It was an accommodation beyond expectations. A luxurious space with the exclusivity of one group per day and a whole building rental, featuring a spacious room enhanced by exposed beam ceilings, and surrounded by Japanese-modern furniture, lighting, and decor. Both dinner and breakfast were not only delicious in taste but also visually stunning. We enjoyed these refined dishes on a solid single-slab wooden table. I wonder how many times I said "delicious" or "beautiful." The conversation with the owner-chef, who has a unique background, was incredibly interesting and enjoyable. Yunotsuru Onsen won first place again this year in the Hidden Hot Springs & Famous Hot Springs category for the Kyushu-Okinawa area at the Onsen General Election 2025. The hot spring water at Tsurunoya felt like a silky beauty serum that women would love. Moreover, it is luxuriously offered as free-flowing natural hot spring water in a cypress bathtub for you to enjoy. Additionally, guests can also bathe for free at nearby partnered accommodations' onsens—a delightful perk for onsen enthusiasts. Without TVs or clocks to distract you from daily life’s hustle and bustle, this stay offered an extraordinary escape into tranquility—making it an incredibly luxurious two-day-one-night experience in every sense. I’d long wanted to visit Bessho Onsen. It had great Reviews on Google Maps, and when I searched IKYU.com for “solo travel” and “Western-style room,” I chose Midoriya—Done! I was a little concerned about the cutting-edge, tech-driven operation, but that worry was unfounded: the smartphone-based process was very smooth. It also made me feel this is something I should get used to—and that it may well become a new standard. This time I booked a breakfast-only Plan for a Multiple Night Stay, and during my stay I used three private Onsen baths a total of six times. What I loved was being able to experience different types of water depending on the bath and the day—clear, slightly greenish, milky white, or with soft yunohana drifting in the water. Each bath has both an indoor bath and an open-air bath, and I thoroughly enjoyed historic Bessho Onsen with its skin-beautifying qualities, gentle feel, and subtle sulfur scent. During my stay, I saw all kinds of guests—a mom with her baby along with her own mother, a young European couple, and solo female international travelers—and it was clear everyone was enjoying their time in their own way.

This was our first stay, and the check-in service was excellent—I knew right away we had chosen the right place. Dinner offered a wide variety of delicious dishes, and we were completely full; my spouse and I were more than satisfied. Thank you very much for all your help from check-out until we left. When we visit Yufuin again, we will make a Reservation at Nakaya. Thank you in advance.

This was our fourth stay. Ever since our first visit, we’ve been impressed by the delicious meals, the relaxing Onsen, and the wonderful hospitality of the proprietress and all the staff—an Accommodation that always makes us want to return. It also has a charming, nostalgic atmosphere, and the Room was spotless and beautifully maintained—nothing to complain about. We’re planning to visit again next year, and we’re already looking forward to it.

During this Go To Travel campaign, I stayed at about 13 properties, and the meals here were the best—just as you’d expect from a kaiseki Ryokan. Everyone should visit at least once.

Nozawa Onsen has few accommodations that allow pets. Among them, we had an excellent stay in a spacious log house room, enjoying a relaxing onsen experience. They provided a parking pass for visiting the public baths in town and even allowed us to use the onsen after the trail race the next day. The attentive service was truly appreciated. We look forward to staying here again when we participate in the race next year.

This was my first visit. From the courteous phone call before our stay, to the warm welcome on arrival, the quiet and spotless Room where we could truly relax, the many dishes filled with nothing but delicious flavors, and the Onsen at just the right temperature that made us want to soak forever… It was truly a blissful time. Even if you’d like to go but aren’t sure about chicken tataki, they will change it in advance by phone to other Oita specialties such as toriten (chicken tempura). It’s a wonderful Accommodation where you can fully feel the warmth of the owner and staff while they maintain a comfortable sense of distance, so I highly recommend staying here if you want to unwind. Since we live far away it’s not easy to visit often, but whenever we travel to Kyushu we will definitely stop by again. Thank you very much for your wonderful hospitality.

Conveniently located near Yubatake. The hot spring water was excellent, and I fully enjoyed Kusatsu. Thank you!

During our two-night, three-day stay, we were able to relax and unwind in this quiet Accommodation. The meals were also very delicious. The Tochigi Wagyu beef in particular was tender and outstanding. All the staff provided pleasant, welcoming service, which made our stay very comfortable. The large public bath was spacious, and perhaps because there aren’t many guest rooms, it never felt crowded—almost like having it to ourselves—so we could soak at ease. I was happy that the hair dryer was a ReFa. The welcome apple juice and manju were delicious. I noticed the apple juice was sold at the shop—I regret not buying some to take home. I’d love to stay again when visiting Kinugawa or Nikko.

We stayed in a Room with an open-air bath. The Room was very clean, as if it had just been renovated, and it was well maintained. The open-air bath was heated water rather than hot spring water, but we still enjoyed it 충분に. The only drawback is that it’s a bit far from the station, but the next day they drove us to the station while we left our car there. Starting with the young proprietress, all of the staff provided excellent service, and we had a very pleasant stay. We would like to visit again.

In this cozy building, the furnishings are thoughtfully chosen with understated care. The collection of Ko-Imari porcelain gathered by successive proprietresses is also superb. The meals were elegantly seasoned and paired wonderfully with drinks. It truly lives up to its reputation as the Accommodation that hosted the Meijin title match in shogi. I would love to return if I have the chance.

We stayed here for a celebration, and the meals, room, and service were all excellent—our whole family was very happy. If I had to ask for one thing, it would be perfect if both large public baths had an open-air bath and a sauna. Still, the in-room open-air bath was amazing—I even enjoyed it alone with a beer! The celebration cake, the drinks and sweets in the lounge, dinner and breakfast, and all the complimentary items and beverages were wonderful. The guest of honor—and our entire family—were truly impressed. Next time, I’d love to bring my parents as well; we look forward to staying with you again then.

Located right in front of the Yubatake, yet it was wonderfully quiet. Each piece of furniture was so beautiful I wanted to photograph it, the artwork on display was all tasteful, and even the hallways gleamed. It is a historic building with a strong sense of tradition, but the Room has been renovated to be comfortable and easy to spend time in. I sincerely hope it will continue to stand with dignity without catering too much to passing trends. I will be back again.

It was a family trip where relatives who usually live far away gathered for the first time in several years (including seniors and a toddler). All staff were kind and attentive. The meals were delicious and more than enough (we had a late lunch, so we were too full and sorry we left quite a bit). The view from the bath was lovely, right by the river, with a great atmosphere. We stayed in the Room with six people, and it was spacious enough for our toddler to run around; the view from the window was amazing (river side). We were very satisfied.

I was looking for an Onsen Accommodation where I could stay with my pet and found a Ryokan with excellent Reviews. It was a wonderful Onsen Ryokan, just as I had hoped. I was amazed by the number of dishes served one after another—and by how delicious they were... Enjoying a sake tasting with the food, then another cup while listening to explanations from the young master, a true sake expert. Breakfast was also delicious. It was an amazing time. (The Onsen was slightly hot—perfect.) Next time, I’d like to stay here with my wife.

We stayed here as a base for sightseeing in the area. The Accommodation was very clean overall, and the Room was spacious; our child especially loved the bunk bed. The udon served in the morning and evening was also delicious.

I stayed at this Onsen Accommodation for a Multiple Night Stay of two nights. Both breakfast and dinner were served in the same private dining room, and we had the same staff member each time, so we could enjoy our meals in a very relaxed and calm atmosphere. The food was excellent and very satisfying. However, there was no accommodation guidebook in the Room, so I would have appreciated having one.

Room We made a Reservation for a Japanese-style Room with a toilet. The Room was spacious, very clean, and comfortable. They provided two layered futon mattresses, so we slept well. Meals There was a wide variety of dishes, and everything was delicious. The flounder sashimi was especially impressive. Children There was a ball pit in the Room, and we could choose DVDs from many options such as Anpanman, Studio Ghibli, and Disney. We were also able to borrow various items such as toys, bath toys, bath soap for children, a bath chair for children, and an indoor low chair—everything was excellent.

The Room and the free-flowing open-air Onsen bath were both spacious, and we enjoyed a truly luxurious stay. The proprietress and staff were also very pleasant, and we were extremely satisfied. Mt. Yufu was beautiful as well. The chilled alcohol in the refrigerator was a welcome touch for someone like me who loves sake. The location is quiet, surrounded by rice fields. Since you’ll turn onto some narrow roads along the way, don’t forget to set your navigation system properly. I drove without much planning and got pretty lost. They also offer free bicycle rentals, so if you’re heading toward the station area for dinner, I recommend using them. Checking in and going straight to the Onsen right away really is wonderful.

Booked a great-value room at the last minute. There is an Onsen, free tea in the lobby, and all the staff were very helpful. They also introduced us to the stone-paved streets of Ochiai, which made our trip very fulfilling. Thank you.
