Family stay for four, including two children. Conveniently located. The building and room show some age but have been renovated, so no issues. The facility is well-maintained. Meals are delicious and generously portioned. Guests can also use the onsen of the affiliated facilities, making it possible to enjoy a hot spring tour. Would love to stay here again when visiting Beppu!

It felt homey and very comfortable. The Hotel staff were kind, and the Onsen was very relaxing. I also appreciated being able to use the laundry freely. I would like to stay again.

This was my second stay. I first visited at the end of July. The Onsen and meals were wonderful, and above all, the front desk staff’s hospitality (especially a female staff member, Ms. A) was outstanding. I was truly impressed by their consistently warm smiles and courteous service, so I booked again right away. This time as well, the Onsen and meals were excellent! And Ms. A’s hospitality felt warmer than at any luxury Hotel—her smile was a perfect 10/10—and it made for a truly relaxing stay. Thank you very much! Also, right after check-in, there is complimentary coffee and shaved ice available in the lounge 24 hours a day. It’s a great perk not only for kids but for adults too, so don’t miss it! With the meals, the Onsen, and the staff’s hospitality… this is a cozy, home-like Accommodation where you can truly unwind at ease, so I definitely plan to return again soon!

The Room was spacious, and dinner was so plentiful we couldn’t finish it. Even during the Obon holiday, there were not many guests, so we were able to enjoy our meal at a relaxed pace. I wished breakfast had a bit more variety. The bath area had tatami flooring, which felt nice to walk on. The price was reasonable and we were satisfied.

Just as the title says! It was great to be able to watch the Lake Toya fireworks right in front of us! Our kids also enjoyed the bingo game! This Hotel was the best part of our trip to Hokkaido! We’d definitely love to stay again!

It was very clean and comfortable! The meals were delicious, and we had a pleasant stay. Please note that the toilet and washbasin are located outside the Room, and bathing is available only in the large public bath (15:00–23:00), so it may not be suitable for those who want a morning bath or shower. There is an ice machine and a microwave on the floor. Also, the refrigerator includes a freezer compartment, which was helpful for freezing ice packs.

Thank you very much for taking care of us during our stay. We stayed during the latter half of Golden Week, and the staff were working hard without a break. We were informed the day before that a Room was available and that we could be upgraded, which made us very happy—our children were thrilled as well. Thank you. About the building and Facility There may be mixed opinions due to aging, but for our family it was not an issue at all. The garden was also well maintained and wonderful. If you are concerned about older buildings, it might be better to choose a newer one. Meals Both dinner and breakfast are standard buffet-style meals. We have used other Accommodations in the same group as well, but here the food was replenished much faster than anywhere else, and the older female staff moved efficiently and did an excellent job. Baths Above all, being able to enjoy hot-spring hopping between two nearby buildings is fantastic. I forgot my ticket while doing the hot-spring hopping. I’m sorry for causing trouble at the main building, but they helped me without any unpleasantness, which I truly appreciated. Next time, I would like to stay at the main building as well. If you’re looking for great value for money, this Accommodation is definitely recommended.

The Facility is located toward the back of the Sumatakyo Onsen area. There are several nearby shops where you can buy souvenirs or grab a light meal, and it’s relatively close to Yume no Tsuribashi Suspension Bridge, so the location is fairly convenient. The Facility is a bit old, but clean. The Room was spacious; although it’s a Japanese-style room, it had twin beds and was very comfortable. Meals focused on local mountain specialties such as grilled river fish and wild boar hot pot, with more than enough volume to finish. Both the indoor bath and open-air bath were spacious, with free-flowing natural hot spring water. The silky-smooth Onsen water was excellent. There seemed to be a small number of staff members, but service felt efficient and to the point without being wasteful. There are two drawbacks: 1) The Wi-Fi signal is weak. We were told that “it should work in this Room” near the front desk, but it still cut out at times. In Rooms farther away, it may barely work at all. 2) Amenities in the bathing area: according to my wife, the women’s bath had items like lotion and cotton swabs, but the men’s bath did not. I’d like them to be consistent. Also, there is no switching between men’s and women’s baths during the stay.

This is a very attentive Accommodation. The staff provided clear and courteous explanations. The cuisine was refined, gentle on the body, and we enjoyed a wonderful time pairing it with delicious drinks. The bath was also clean, and the water felt great on the skin. From the in-room bath, we could look out over the sea in Atami while soaking at a relaxed pace. We only visited Kinomiya Shrine for sightseeing, but it was a trip where we could take everything slowly and unwind.

Tamatsukuri Onsen is known for its excellent water, and it truly felt smooth and pleasant when I soaked in it. I even bought a bath additive called "Tamatsukuri Onsen Bath" from the shop. The meals were plentiful, and my whole family was satisfied. Thank you very much!

A relaxing trip with my grandchild and three sisters. Since it was just over 10,000 yen per person, we didn’t have very high expectations, but the front desk staff were kind and explained everything clearly. The Room was more spacious than we expected, which was great, but it was disappointing that the floor cushions were old and worn. The meals were delicious, with plenty of desserts that we enjoyed as well. Above all, the staff who assisted us in the dining area and hallways—and everyone we met—spoke to us kindly and made us feel comfortable. Regardless of the Accommodation cost, a good personality really matters. It was very good overall.

It was a relaxing and peaceful stay at the accommodation. The staff's hospitality was excellent, and the food was delicious. I was already full after enjoying Matsuba crab, but the tempura served later was so perfectly fried that I ate it all. The bathhouse had a charming atmosphere with great Onsen water, though a higher chair would have been appreciated. As I age, I find traditional accommodations more comforting to my heart, though my body is starting to feel otherwise. Since it was a room with a bed type, there were no inconveniences inside the room. I hope to visit again while I'm still able to use stairs. I felt that Iwai Onsen has remained unchanged for decades, and its unchanging nature is part of its charm.

I stayed here with my elderly mother. We were able to relax and recover in the Onsen (I went in five times), and the buffet was delicious—I ate too much and was very satisfied. My mother especially enjoyed the live-kitchen steak at dinner and the udon at breakfast, and she ate a lot. The Room was even cleaner than we expected, and my mother was happy that she could rest well. We are also grateful to all the staff for their kindness. And thank you as well to the robot vacuum that was working early in the morning. I thought this might be our last long trip together, but I would love to stay here again.

We traveled as three seniors and were worried about finding yukata that fit, but a wide range of sizes down to small ones was available, which was very helpful. The Room was also spacious, which made things easier for those with weak legs and hips. If possible, we felt that higher-backed floor chairs would be more comfortable. The accommodation may be old as mentioned in other reviews, and it might not compare to high-end places, but for me, this is the perfect onsen accommodation! I was completely satisfied from the moment I arrived. My companion was also delighted, and our first impression was excellent. After arriving, we used the indoor bath. Thanks to the limited number of rooms, we had it all to ourselves. The water quality was fantastic and even alleviated the pain in my right upper arm caused by neuralgia. As for dinner... while you can hear other guests' voices, each group has a private dining space where you can enjoy your meal without worrying about others. The rice was delicious, and every dish served exceeded expectations! For someone over 50 like me, there was plenty of food—it was honestly a challenge not to leave anything behind! But what impressed me most during dinner were the staff members who attended us; their warm personalities and smiles (even through masks) made dining an absolute pleasure. I’ve often avoided meals at accommodations due to past disappointments; however, this place completely changed my perspective with its exceptional food and outstanding service from staff members—so much so that I went to bed feeling deeply moved. The next morning before breakfast, we reserved a private open-air bath (though initially planned for before dinner but it wasn’t available). It turned out beyond expectations—a truly amazing open-air bath! Even large enough for three families together yet just two of us enjoyed it privately. Perhaps due to timing or seasonality—we saw swallows building nests nearby while hearing chirps from baby birds as parent birds busily brought them food—a serene experience indeed! Breakfast afterward left us equally satisfied despite having eaten so much at dinner—it’s hard not being full here! Having stayed at various accommodations over time only two—including this one—made me want return solely because they’re worth visiting again (the other being an unnamed place in Hirugami Onsen). In conclusion: If you're looking for affordable enjoyment combined with must-have private open-air baths—I highly recommend staying here! Lastly—to any staff member who assisted during our delightful evening meal reading this review—I hope these words bring joy your way!

We stayed here with 12 family members and relatives. Our biggest concern was whether we could find seats at dinner and breakfast, but the front desk staff coordinated everything so we could all sit together, which made it stress-free and greatly appreciated. Everyone was able to bring back the dishes they liked, and we were all very happy with the food. Since we had a Multiple Night Stay for two nights, each of us could enjoy what we wanted—table tennis, mahjong, the beach, the pool, and fishing—making it a meaningful stay. It was a hot summer, so we were also grateful to be able to relax inside the Hotel. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip.

We were able to stay at a great price, and the meals were incredibly delicious and very generous—we really had to work hard to finish them. There was Hida beef served both teppanyaki-style and as sukiyaki, and the vegetables were fresh and very tasty. We also reserved the bath for private use, and we were moved by the breathtaking star-filled sky. There was no air conditioning, but it wasn’t a problem. The Room was old, but we knew it came with that condition, so it was fine. Our whole family was so satisfied that we all said we’d like to stay again. With souvenirs included as well, I think it’s a truly wonderful Ryokan.

The private open-air bath in the room had the perfect temperature, was very clean, and it was amazing to enjoy it while gazing at the full moon at night. Both dinner and breakfast were served in the room, allowing for a relaxing experience, and both meals were delicious and satisfying. The staff were kind and friendly, making our stay pleasant throughout. The only downside was that the shower in the reservation-only private bath had weak water pressure, which made it cold before getting into the bath. Other than that, it was a very satisfying stay where we could relax and forget about daily life.
