A nostalgic Showa-style Ryokan where you take off your shoes at the entrance! I think just changing the carpet here would dramatically change the overall atmosphere. The bath is a natural hot spring with a high content of metasilicic acid, so your skin becomes smooth and moist even without soap - wonderful! The tsumire unkai nabe for dinner was exquisite, and I was completely absorbed in it. The tamago kake gohan and soba mizu kake for breakfast were also delicious, and I was impressed by the abundant use of local ingredients, including vegetables. Thank you very much.

I booked this Ryokan two days before my trip to Atami. It is located near Kinomiya Station, which is within walking distance from Atami. The location was excellent, especially being just a few minutes' walk to Kinomiya Shrine. The room was a typical Ryokan style, offering an authentic experience. Although the angle of the room was slightly awkward, I could still catch a glimpse of the sea. This Ryokan also has table tennis facilities, which provided some simple yet enjoyable entertainment. The onsen bath was small but gave a nice onsen experience. However, there were no facial cleansers available, which might be inconvenient for women. I added breakfast to my stay and enjoyed bread, bananas, boiled eggs, fruits, and drinks. While simple in variety, having breakfast at the Ryokan added to the travel atmosphere nicely.

Regarding the meals, breakfast is good, but although dinner offers many dishes, nothing in particular stands out as memorable. For example, since you grow plenty of vegetables in your fields, I think it would feel more special if the vegetable tempura were more substantial and served on a larger plate; there is no need to serve meat on a ceramic grill. Fresh vegetable tempura is a treat in itself, so I would appreciate that.

Returning here after 4.5 years due to a job transfer, I can say I was very satisfied overall. First of all, there are plenty of private reservable baths, so I was able to relax without any waiting time. Meals are served in a private dining room, so even as a solo traveler I could eat at my own pace and feel completely at ease. One thing I thought would have been nice is an electric kettle for hot water, but considering the great value—luxurious meals and free private baths—I was more than satisfied. The location is excellent, and the building is new, ensuring a satisfying stay. Parking is available next to the building, and it’s within walking distance of Gero Station. The customer service is great, providing recommendations and the latest information. Gassho Village is also within walking distance. However, the unit bath in the room is small. There is a private open-air bath available for an additional fee with time restrictions, but popular time slots fill up quickly. While there are affiliated Onsen facilities, they close relatively early, so it’s best to plan around your dinner schedule. Additionally, breakfast portions are small and may not be sufficient for big eaters. Overall, this place is recommended if you want to enjoy Gero casually!

Since I was staying with my child and we don’t eat large portions, we chose a restaurant where we could order dinner à la carte. The food was excellent, and we were truly impressed. The sashimi in particular was beautifully presented and delicious. The footbath was next to the smoking area, so the smell bothered us a bit, but everything else was great. The Accommodation staff, the baths, and the meals were all wonderful, and we would definitely like to stay again.

Conveniently located near Yubatake. The hot spring water was excellent, and I fully enjoyed Kusatsu. Thank you!

The Onsen was very relaxing. I also appreciated being able to drink the spring water. The meals were delicious, with a light seasoning that brought out the natural flavors of the ingredients, which I enjoyed as I don't prefer strong flavors. The squid tempura was especially tender and tasty. I would love to visit again if given the chance.

We stayed for one night before Obon as a trip to celebrate my mother-in-law's 88th birthday. Although it is a bit away from the stone-paved street, it was a quiet and charming accommodation. The staff were friendly and kind with warm smiles! The room was spacious, and the meals were delicious. The attentive service by the dining staff was very much appreciated. The bath included an indoor open-air option, and there were various hair dryers from different brands available to try out, which was great! Near the front desk, there were board games that everyone could enjoy together. I would love to visit again if I have the chance!

This was my first time staying here. Although I won’t go into details, there was a difference from what I had reserved, which initially left me confused. However, the staff responded quickly, and I was able to enjoy a comfortable stay. I feel it’s rare to find a Hotel that provides such pleasant service these days. For a Room of this grade with an open-air bath and two meals included at this price, I personally have no complaints. If I had to mention one drawback, I could hear conversations from the neighboring Room quite clearly.

During a 3-day, 2-night trip visiting Kanazawa → Hida Takayama → Kamikochi, we stayed in a Room with a private bath on the second night. The atmosphere of the Accommodation, the Room itself, and the staff’s service were all excellent; however, the only disappointment was the open-air bath attached to the Room. Although there was a net provided to remove debris, once you get into the tub, settled leaves (or similar) stir up and float around, making them impossible to fully remove and they cling to your body. I understand that this may be part of what an open-air bath is like, but at similar baths we have stayed at in the past, there was a simple cover when not in use so debris was not much of an issue...

The building is designed so that you wear sandals to move between the front (dining area), guest rooms, and bath. Although it is an Unagi Onsen, the water is not slimy. Recently, the water temperature has been too low, so there is a silver mat for insulation in the bathtub, which you remove before entering. It may feel a bit lukewarm, but it warms the body very well. Overall, the cleaning is thorough, and you can feel the little touches of care from the property throughout, with a water server, hairdryer, and refrigerator placed in the hallway. The meal might look a bit insufficient, but with a rice refill, I was full. Since it is an old-fashioned building, you can hear the sound of doors opening and closing and footsteps in the hallway quite clearly. The shared toilets in the hallway, separated by gender, have one large, one small, and one washbasin inside when you open the door. If there are many guests, it might feel crowded or noisy, but this time there were only two groups on the second floor, so we could relax.

Specializing in No Meals Included, it might be a great option for an affordable stay at Misasa Onsen.

On my first visit to Shima Onsen, I had planned to arrive early and do some sightseeing, but due to heavy rain, I ended up waiting until check-in—thank you very much for accommodating me. The Room was very clean and more spacious than I expected. The in-room bath was at the perfect temperature, and I used it many times, which helped relieve my everyday fatigue. I made a Reservation with No Meals Included, but the à la carte dinner was also delicious, and the service was courteous. With an 11:00 check-out, you can take your time, and since you just return the Room key and leave, it feels casual and easygoing—perfect for someone like me who isn’t comfortable with the formal hospitality and send-offs typical of long-established Ryokan.

I traveled with my elderly mother, and since the accommodation is slightly away from the main street, it was quiet and comfortable. Moreover, it takes less than 10 minutes by car to reach the main street. Parking lots are abundant (many cost a maximum of 400–500 yen on weekdays), making sightseeing convenient. The front desk staff, both men and women, were all pleasant and answered our questions with smiles and care. At the breakfast venue, not only was the food delightful in the morning but there were also various drink options that made us feel enriched. As for the bath, I didn’t notice the bubble bath at night in the open-air section but realized it in the morning when I thought, "Wasn’t this clear before?" However, I felt that the machine for creating bubbles was a bit noisy. Still, with its excellent location and welcoming atmosphere, this is a wonderful accommodation where my mother also had a great time. Thank you for your hospitality!

The building reflects its age. The open-air bath is slightly small, and the high walls reduce the sense of openness. However, the meals are delicious.

I stayed with my child who lives alone in Niigata, and our dogs. Since there was no fee for dogs, we were told to bring everything ourselves, so we prepared accordingly. As there was no extra charge, I won’t complain. The Room was spacious, and the dogs were thrilled to run around. Although it is an older Ryokan, it was kept very clean. The tea sweets were also delicious. The bath was spacious and relaxing. I was happy that it was available from 3:00 PM to 9:00 AM. The meals were delicious as well. The Uonuma rice came with free refills, so we had seconds at both dinner and breakfast. Great quality for this price—easy on the wallet and a wonderful memory.

We stayed with two adults in two single Rooms. They kindly accommodated our request to extend our stay by one day. We were comfortable throughout our stay. If we have the opportunity, we would like to use this Hotel again. Thank you very much.

The building is a bit old, and there’s the issue of no air conditioning typical in Hokkaido, as well as insects that come with being in the mountains. However, considering the price, it’s up to each guest to decide if it suits them. For us as a couple, we were satisfied. Some dishes could have been served hotter for an even better experience, but everything was delicious and filling. During the day it was unbelievably hot, but at night it cooled down enough that we didn’t need to use the complimentary "cool neck towel" and slept comfortably without air conditioning. We turned off the lights, closed the curtains, and opened windows while taking precautions against insects. The sound of the river was quite loud but felt natural and didn’t disturb our sleep once we got used to it. Although unrelated to this Hotel itself, we found that Shirogane Onsen had better water quality compared to Sounkyo Onsen for our visit on the following day.
