Thinking at the Tatami Property The novel "Tabibito Misaki" was inspired by a stay at "Yunohamatei." Drawn by the crisp winter sunset, I decided to set the story in Toi. That Property transformed into one adorned entirely with tatami patterns. It became a fragrant, clean, and warm atmosphere. Listening to the sound of waves in the open-air tatami bath, I watched the fishing lights offshore. The Room's private spring bath reflected the moonlight, turning Suruga Bay into an illusory painting. I was overwhelmed by the unprecedented beauty and lost myself in the emotions of travel. It was in 1929 (Showa 4) when the first president of Nagano Electric Railway, Tohei Kozu, met Lieutenant Helseth from Norway.
