An Onsen-loving couple. We found it the same day and made a last-minute Reservation. A detached Room with both an indoor bath and an open-air bath (of course, both are Onsen). At first, the main building looked like it had been renovated… and the detached unit, with its golden torii gate, felt a bit questionable… We wondered if we’d made a mistake. But that first impression was completely wrong. The Hotel staff seemed to be from overseas, but they were pleasant, explained everything clearly, and were friendly and kind. The detached Room had everything we needed—nothing to complain about. It’s No Meals Included, but delivery is OK and there’s a microwave. We considered going out to eat, but since we wanted to soak in the Onsen repeatedly and relax, we bought locally sourced sashimi and sushi at a nearby supermarket and ate in the Room. Without worrying about anyone else, we went into the Onsen over and over—back and forth between the indoor bath and the open-air bath… I’ve lost count of how many times. The fridge has separate freezer/refrigerator compartments, so we could even buy ice cream and store it. The free Onsen-boiled eggs were great—we had several—and they were really delicious. Plates and chopsticks for meals were also provided. You can adjust the water temperature to your liking, and the Room size was more than enough for two. Some Reviews mentioned that the Room was dark or that there were no loungewear/pajamas, but it wasn’t dark at all—and loungewear was provided. If I had to mention one thing: the wooden wall around the open-air bath has some peeling discoloration here and there, with a few spots that look worn/rotted. It’s probably unavoidable due to Onsen minerals; it would be perfect if maintenance reached every detail. Still, they do seem to maintain it regularly—it may just happen quickly because of mineral buildup—so it’s within an acceptable range. We loved everything about our stay. We’ll be back.

This was my first time using the weekday Plan. Given the price, I honestly wasn’t expecting much (sorry), but I was amazed— the food was delicious, the Room was clean, and I could really relax in the bath... I found myself thinking, “Is this price really okay?!” It’s definitely an Accommodation I highly recommend.

We stayed here as a couple in our early 50s. The Accommodation was spotless down to every corner, and we had a very comfortable stay. [Room & Bath] The Room with an open-air bath had truly breathtaking views, and we enjoyed the bath three times—after arrival, before bed, and again the next morning. The water temperature was a little on the lukewarm side, so it sometimes felt slightly chilly if we stayed in for a long time, but it was still very relaxing. We also appreciated the spacious wash area with a large mirror, which made getting ready in the morning very easy. [Dining] For dinner, we had the “HAKKO Yaki-Shabu Course.” The main yaki-shabu was exquisite—the meat practically melted in our mouths! The shiitake mushrooms and fried potatoes were also delicious, with carefully crafted flavors you wouldn’t normally get at home. We were fully satisfied all the way through to the ochazuke to finish and dessert. For breakfast, we enjoyed the “Onigiri Bento” while taking in the wonderful view. The portion size was slightly modest, but it was just right for us as a couple. The piping hot roasted green tea was rich and very tasty. We were also delighted by thoughtful touches such as complimentary mineral water—this is a wonderful Accommodation where we would definitely like to stay again. Thank you very much.

There was a great selection, from treats like crab and grilled eel steak to local specialties such as ramen and dango-jiru. They also had ice cream for dessert, which was very satisfying. I used the large public bath early, so it wasn’t crowded and I could relax. There is also a private family bath, making it convenient for families with small children.

We stayed here during the summer holidays. True to its reputation as a hidden hot spring in Tohoku, the location was quite challenging to reach, but it was a wonderful Accommodation. The interior was kept very clean, and arrangements of lisianthus and asters placed here and there were soothing. One minor point—perhaps due to the deep mountain setting and humidity—the indoor toilet had a slight musty smell at times, but otherwise it was a very comfortable Ryokan.

From start to finish, including our departure, the service was heartfelt and attentive. Dinner and breakfast were not only delicious with fresh seafood, but also so plentiful we thought we couldn’t possibly finish everything. The Room had a calm atmosphere that helped melt away everyday stress, and in the morning the song of bush warblers served as a natural alarm for a pleasant wake-up. The amenities were well stocked, and since they were available in the lobby, it was helpful to be able to pick up more at any time. We would love to visit again if we have the chance.

If possible, I’d rather not let too many people know about this incredibly great-value Accommodation. The food is delicious, and the staff are wonderful. This was my first stay in summer, and the pool was neither overcrowded nor too quiet—everything felt perfectly comfortable, so I could truly relax and enjoy it.

Convenient for visiting any of the public bathhouses. I come to Kinosaki every year, and I’ve stayed at about five places—this is a great Accommodation. The service isn’t over the top; it’s just right, so you can truly relax. The building feels historic, but it has been renovated and is very comfortable with a lovely atmosphere. I’d like to make a Reservation and stay again next year.

One night with two meals (breakfast and dinner) included. The food is delicious and features local specialty ingredients, letting you fully enjoy the charm of traveling in the area. The room is spacious and clean, and it’s very relaxing to sit on the balcony and enjoy the ocean view.

This is our annual summer family trip with three generations. We book two Rooms, and we truly appreciate that you arrange them next to each other. The baths are amazing—wonderful Onsen! The food is delicious with a wide variety of options, and all the staff are so kind and helpful. It’s an outstanding Hotel. My mother was left partially paralyzed after a cerebral hemorrhage and has limited mobility, so we wondered if this might be our last trip together—but this year again, our whole family was able to come. We hope my mother and father stay healthy so we can all return next year as well. This is the best Hotel for creating wonderful memories on our yearly family trips. Please take care of yourselves, and keep up the great work. I’ll be visiting with friends in October too, and I’m looking forward to coming back again. The kids were thrilled with the pool, karaoke, table tennis, and the huge selection of manga! Adults were just as happy with the sauna, drinks, and the Onsen! All Hotel staff were kind and helpful. Mr. T. kindly accommodated our requests during karaoke on the second day and carefully explained the details of our Room, which made us truly happy. I’m sorry I couldn’t thank you properly when we left. This is an Itoen we definitely want to visit again!

I was looking for Accommodation in Matsumoto City for sightseeing in the Kamikochi and Takayama areas, and although it was a bit far from the city center, I chose the Itoen Hotel. I selected it based on everyone’s Reviews. The dinner was plentiful and delicious, and the all-you-can-drink option was included. The Itoen Hotel offers outstanding value for money—I’ll continue to support you.

I always look forward to visiting, soothed by the Onsen waters of Bessho and the nature of Shioda-daira. This time as well, I enjoyed a relaxing stay with wonderful meals, baths, and the warm atmosphere of Nanjo Ryokan. Every dish reflected the best of the local area and was truly delicious. The building feels like time has stood still since the Showa era, which is very calming. I imagine it must be challenging to maintain such a historic Accommodation, but I think replacing the tatami mats in the Room would make it even more comfortable. I hope this Accommodation continues for many years to come. I will visit again!

Aside from the slightly spongy floor in the washroom, this Accommodation was very clean, meticulously maintained throughout, and truly comfortable. We were able to relax as if we were back at our parents’ home. The baths were also wonderful, and we enjoyed both the large public bath and all three private baths. The former air-raid shelter passage leading to the Goemon bath was a little scary, but it also felt like a valuable geo-heritage site. Breakfast is mainly Western-style, and the variety, quality, and portion size all felt just right. (Couple in our 50s) Perhaps because it is Western-style, we would be happy if tea were available after the meal. The staff’s attentiveness and sense of distance were just right, making this an Accommodation we definitely want to return to. We would also recommend it to family and friends.

The staff's service was excellent. I appreciated the thoughtful touches, such as a single fresh flower in the room, and the breakfast was delicious! I didn't use the large public bath, so I rated it three stars. It was an accommodation I'd love to visit again.

After earning my Onsen Sommelier Master certification, I’ve been gradually visiting Onsen around Japan. The water quality in Shibu Onsen is truly wonderful. I was surprised by how many international visitors there were. Because the public bath tour was crowded, I couldn’t visit them all… but I was able to enjoy almost all of the baths at the Ryokan. The staff were very friendly and relaxed, which made my stay truly soothing. To Mr. Y from the male staff: thank you for all the fun conversations. If you have time, please do come to Niigata again.

The Room is a bit small, but it’s good value for the price. There’s also a Lawson right in front, which is convenient. Even when I checked in early, the staff were welcoming and shared lots of helpful information—thank you. The Onsen suited me perfectly and felt wonderful!

The Room staff were very friendly and attentive to every detail, and although we were traveling with my parents in their 90s, we had a comfortable stay. It was also great that the bath was available 24 hours a day.

We stayed here when visiting the Dinosaur Museum. There are the Main Building, Yumoto Building, East Building, and Chosei Building, so the layout inside was a bit complicated. In any case, there are many large public baths. Every bath was kept very clean, and we were extremely satisfied. The attendants also took great care of us efficiently, and we truly appreciate it. All of the food was delicious, and even our daughter—who usually doesn’t eat seafood—said it was tasty and ate it. When we come to the area again, we will stay here again. Thank you very much.

This was an Accommodation I was very satisfied with. The private bath and the in-room bath were especially wonderful, and I was able to relax and fully enjoy the Onsen. Overall, I felt it offered great value for the price. For breakfast, rice, miso soup, raw egg, and natto are available for unlimited refills, but the initial serving was already generous enough that refills weren’t necessary—I was very satisfied. For dinner, you can choose from two course options; however, at check-in on the first day, the sushi & shabu-shabu course was fully booked. Even so, both courses were excellent in both quality and portion size, and everything was delicious. The amenities were also well stocked, and I appreciated the snack service as well as the wide selection of yukata provided. There were complimentary ice cream and coffee services along with late-night soba throughout my stay, which made me feel how extensive the services were. The late-night soba was also very tasty. If I had to mention one area for improvement, it would be dinner service. Sometimes water or tea was provided at the start and sometimes it wasn’t; also, there were times when drinks weren’t refilled unless we asked. That point stood out slightly, but aside from that I was extremely satisfied overall and would definitely like to stay again.
