Though the surface of the water changes from moment to moment, the hot spring continues to flow abundantly beyond time. Yoshikawa was established as a culinary Ryokan after World War II, located near the Kyoto Imperial Palace in the heart of Rakuchu. The garden, known as "Taikyoen," is said to have been designed by Enshu Kobori and retains some features from the Edo period. The Sukiya-style building, once a residence of a wealthy merchant, offers an atmosphere of tranquility and charm that feels far removed from the bustling city. Since its establishment by Kobo Daishi Kukai during the Heian period, Mount Koya has transcended all sects and continued to nurture its history as the general bodhi site of Japan. Located in front of the Seven Halls of the Great Temple Complex, adjacent to the head temple Kongobuji to the east, and backed by the mountain of Prince Kakuhou's Mausoleum, the special-status temple "Mount Koya Special-Status Temple Soujiji" is an ancient temple blessed with excellent Facilities and a grand garden. "Miyajima Grand Hotel Arimoto" is a Ryokan with a history dating back to the early Edo period, now run by its 20th generation. Maruto Soy Sauce, Nara Prefecture’s oldest soy sauce brewery, has been reborn as a stayable soy sauce brewery.Founded in 1689, Maruto Soy Sauce was once purveyor to the Imperial Household—so esteemed that members of the Imperial Family even stayed here. After the war, however, the brewery was forced to close when it could no longer secure satisfactory ingredients. The previous Matsusho-so was designated as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property in 2003 and cherished by many until it was lost to fire in 2021. Despite this loss, with encouragement from numerous supporters, we are proud to announce its revival as the new "Matsusho-so" on March 1, 2024. The building incorporates design elements of the original Matsusho-so while embracing traditional Sukiya architecture that harmonizes with nature. Each room features a private open-air bath overlooking a small garden where guests can enjoy seasonal landscapes. We have created a space that feels "new yet somehow nostalgic." The first-generation owner, Tadayoshi Ota, was a connoisseur so esteemed that Rosanjin described him as "the most notable man in Hokuriku, a national guest of Kanazawa, and a great figure in tea gatherings." It is said that tea masters, connoisseurs, and gourmets, including Dono Masuda, frequently visited from Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka, drawn by Tadayoshi's hospitality. His attention to ingredients and dedication to tableware were so exceptional that they were even passed down to "Hoshioka Saryo." As Rosanjin remarked, "He did not use tea as an ornament for himself nor as a business," reflecting the heartfelt and unpretentious hospitality that was the philosophy of Yamanoo. After the war, adapting to changes in lifestyle, "Yamanoo" was reborn as "Kanazawa Yamanoo." The current owner, Tatsuya Motoya, is the fifth generation since Tadayoshi. While time has passed and the name has changed, the spirit of hospitality, "one guest, one pavilion," has been faithfully carried on since its founding.
