Umegashima Onsen is said to have been discovered by a woodcutter approximately 1,700 years ago during the reign of Emperor Ōjin (270 AD). Baikunro, established in the early Meiji period (140 years ago), has a history of over 300 years when including its former Edo-era name, "Eijuken."
