Kiyasuya is a secluded Property located in the mountainous area of Sujiyu Onsen, at an altitude of 1,000 meters in Kokonoe Town, Oita Prefecture. Built in the autumn of 2006 with the spirit of its 30-year history, the Property's Rooms feature warm earthen walls and black-painted wooden fences, evoking the charm of traditional Japanese farmhouses and the serene atmosphere of a rural village. Each Room is a detached unit with its own open-air bath. The hot spring water, a clear sodium-chloride Onsen with a silky texture, is abundant and free-flowing, used not only for the baths but also for heating the Rooms. The gentle breeze passing through the surrounding grove softly stirs the waters. In the morning, listen to the chirping of birds, and at night, gaze at the starry sky as you immerse yourself in tranquil moments to your heart's content.

Our signature Onsen features a free-flowing open-air bath surrounded by soothing steam, a spacious public bath, a gently warming steam bath, and hot stone spa treatments—perfect for relaxing both body and mind. In June 2026, a new attraction, “Sunamushi Onsen Kirisuna,” will open inside the Hotel. The in-house Facility offerings are also extensive, including a kids’ park and relaxation areas. Located on the slopes of Mount Tsukuba, "Hotel Ichibo" is a luxurious accommodation surrounded by the beautiful nature of all four seasons. Our Ryokan was established in 1870 (Meiji 3) as Ishimura Ryokan in the Nanpoen area, slightly south of its current location. The founder, who served as a head officer at the Hakone checkpoint during the Edo period, began developing Onsen in Owakudani during the early Meiji era and started operating as a healing retreat by drawing hot spring water from there. In 1913 (Taisho 2), we relocated to this site and renamed it Senkoro. For this reason, we are known as Sengokuhara's original Onsen retreat.Before World War II, Sengokuhara was a special area frequented by prominent figures from political and financial circles. The nearby Sengoku Golf Course was even played on by Emperor Showa alongside international diplomats.Many distinguished guests have stayed at our Ryokan over the years, including notable figures such as Eiichi Shibusawa, Kihachiro Okura, Kichizaemon Sumitomo, Aritomo Yamagata, Takashi Hara, Kiichiro Hiranuma; artists like Somei Yuki and Suiun Komuro; literary figures such as Kiyokata Kaburaki and Sotaro Yasui; and writers like Sohou Tokutomi, Masao Kumei, Chogoro Kaionji, Jun Takami among others.Sengokuhara is part of Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park's special district with strict environmental regulations. Building height limits along with restrictions on colors, decorations or signage are rigorously enforced here. In front of our property lies Hakone’s outer rim mountains covered in lush greenery that turn beautifully red during autumn foliage season.
