Stepping into the main building, which is over 100 years old and has been renovated after the Kumamoto Earthquake, feels like entering a different world, as if traveling back in time. The Onsen features three different sources, offering 11 baths across four locations, each with unique water qualities and atmospheres. Guests can enjoy the "Suzume no Yu," a "miraculous bath" rich in sulfur content with water bubbling up from the ground, as well as the highly acidic "Moto no Yu" and "Tamago no Yu," choosing baths based on their benefits and purposes. Takayu Onsen is a quaint and rustic hot spring area located at the entrance of the Azuma Skyline. With partial renovations starting in 2024, a new lounge, guest rooms, and by 2025, renovated large public baths and open-air baths have reopened.
