"Kinokawa Onsen Registered Tangible Cultural Property Inn Mikiyama" is a Japanese Ryokan with a 300-year history, located in the heart of the nostalgic Japanese Onsen town, Kinokawa Onsen. Renowned author Naoya Shiga made this Property his regular stay, where his famous short story "At Kinosaki" was born. The wooden architecture, built in 1927 and recognized as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan, along with a 300-tsubo Japanese garden, retains its charm. In November 2013, the Property underwent a major renovation of its lobby, dining area, and large public bath, transforming into a modern Japanese Ryokan that blends history with contemporary design.From the Room's veranda, guests can enjoy the changing seasons in the garden, or lose themselves in a book in the library. After changing into a yukata, take a leisurely stroll to explore the local Onsen baths, and then savor the delights of the Sea of Japan paired with local sake in the modern dining area. Ginzan Onsen, with a history of 400 years, currently features 14 wooden three-story Ryokan lining the river, with Ryokan Fujiya located at its center. Fujiya, a key element of Ginzan Onsen's scenery, has preserved the shape of the old Fujiya to maintain the familiar streetscape of Ginzan. Instead of rebuilding, they have chosen renovation as a method to pass on the wooden three-story streetscape to future generations.

The main building, Kosekiya, constructed during the Taisho era, is characterized by its dignified wooden structure, the gentle texture of its handrails, and the glossy black stairs, all of which reflect the rich stories and expressions nurtured over time. The previous Matsusho-so was designated as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property in 2003 and cherished by many until it was lost to fire in 2021. Despite this loss, with encouragement from numerous supporters, we are proud to announce its revival as the new "Matsusho-so" on March 1, 2024. The building incorporates design elements of the original Matsusho-so while embracing traditional Sukiya architecture that harmonizes with nature. Each room features a private open-air bath overlooking a small garden where guests can enjoy seasonal landscapes. We have created a space that feels "new yet somehow nostalgic." Later, the Onsen-ji Temple was established through the contributions of the Sengoku warlord Takeda Shingen. During the battles of Kawanakajima, Shibu Onsen served as a healing place for wounded soldiers. The first proprietor of Kokuya, Ichizaemon, originally ran a rice merchant business called Kokuya but later opened an inn for travelers. Since then, the Property has been cherished by guests, and the current proprietor is the 16th generation.
