Dogo Onsen, Japan's oldest Onsen with a history of approximately 3,000 years, has been celebrated as one of the nation's most renowned hot springs, even mentioned in poems such as "Shiratama no Ishiyu" and "Iyo no Yuketa." Funaya Ryokan (now known as "Funaya") opened here during the Kan'ei era of the Edo period. For over 390 years, it has been cherished as a beloved Property for countless travelers. Dogo Onsen, which appears in ancient texts like the "Nihon Shoki" and "Manyoshu," was made decisively famous by Natsume Soseki's novel "Botchan." The haiku, "Hajimete no Funaya tomari wo shigure keri," was composed in the autumn of 1893 when Soseki stayed at Funaya during his first year as a teacher in Matsuyama. Funaya Ryokan has also been a favorite Property of literary figures connected to Matsuyama, such as Masaoka Shiki and Takahama Kyoshi. At "Dogo Onsen Funaya," you can enjoy a vast garden of approximately 1,500 tsubo (about 4,950 square meters) with a flowing mountain stream. An accommodation featuring 100% natural hot spring water in its open-air baths and handmade cuisine emphasizing quality ingredients. Particularly, the hamo dishes from summer to early autumn are not to be missed. In 2023, a comfortable space utilizing natural materials was introduced, allowing guests to stay without worrying about dryness. At the Property surrounded by the serene pine forest of Chirihama Beach, you can enjoy Onsen with water sourced directly from its own spring. The "Chirihama Nagisa Driveway," approximately 8 km long, allows you to drive along the shoreline, offering a refreshing experience. The Room is a 7.5-tatami Japanese-style space with futons pre-arranged. The spring water is rich in minerals, characterized by its smooth texture. Meals are prepared using carefully selected local ingredients and served as Kaiseki cuisine by the head chef.

Kano Onsen springs up in an old castle town at the northern foot of Mt. Juhomine, once the stage of Mori clan conflicts during the Sengoku period. This nature-rich area is closely associated with Kano Castle, once the residence of Lord Kamei. Conveniently located as a base for sightseeing in Tottori—about 30 minutes from central Tottori City and about 25 minutes from Mitokusan Sanbutsuji Temple.

A 6-minute walk from Chichibu Station on the Chichibu Main Line, our hotel offers free parking for over 130 cars and provides easy access to popular attractions such as Hitsujiyama Park and Chichibu Shrine. The facility features a large public bath with natural Onsen and an open-air bath, the dinner restaurant "Shoku Nomidokoro Kazura," and multipurpose rooms, allowing guests to fully enjoy their stay. This is the second Route Inn Hotel in Chichibu City.
