Yakouin is a historic Property, originally built as the Amida Hall during the establishment of Zenkoji Temple. Experience the extraordinary with morning rituals unique to the Property, vegetarian cuisine, and sutra copying activities.
Koyasan Jokiin, where the Jizodo Hall was completed in 2001, is a temple themed around "healing." The large communal bath "Jizo-yu" has been renovated, and the temple offers a shukubo (temple lodging) experience. Some special rooms do not have private baths, and the communal bath is available from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM (4:00 PM to 9:30 PM in December). Additionally, the temple's vegetarian cuisine emphasizes the seasonal essence and the esoteric Buddhist principles of "Five Methods, Five Tastes, and Five Colors," utilizing ingredients to their fullest. Rather than operating as a traditional "shukubo" (temple lodging), this Property has a long history of welcoming guests from both Japan and abroad as a youth hostel, offering a familial and casual atmosphere that is its charm.
