My main purpose this time was to visit Arashiyama, so I stayed at this Hotel in Shijo-Omiya. The nearby bus stop is also conveniently located, with many bus routes to various areas of Kyoto. The Room had an unusual design—a Japanese-style Room with beds—but it was comfortable. If possible, I would have liked a floor chair. The large public bath was also nice, but the only drawback was that the shower pressure was so strong it hurt when sprayed on my face. Also, I heard the women’s public bath was extremely crowded on Saturday night, so it would be helpful if the TV in the Room could show how busy the public bath is, like some other hotels do.

I chose LiVEMAX for three weeks of work from Sunday to Saturday. The reason is that each Room has a microwave. I got tired of eating out every day, so it’s great to be able to shop at the supermarket and heat up meals. Other hotels are available, but having to go down to the lobby is inconvenient. Convenient access from Shinsaibashi, and the Hotel lobby is spacious. I checked in at night, and it was reassuring to have staff at the front desk. The amenities are well stocked, including skincare items. There is no complimentary mineral water in the Room, but there is a water dispenser at the front desk—don’t forget to bring your own bottle. Breakfast offers rice, bread, and pancakes, with a solid variety of dishes. The Room has a reasonably sized bathroom as well, and overall it felt like a very good value Hotel.

Although the Room is small, the storage and furnishings are arranged extremely well, so it felt very spacious and I stayed comfortably. I also appreciated having pillows (one per person) in the elevator hall. However, the step up between the unit bathroom and the Room was higher than usual, which was a bit tough on my knee that I had injured while moving—though that’s just me being picky (lol). The front desk staff were warm and welcoming as well, and overall I had a very comfortable stay.
