The building and Room are a bit dated, and since it’s a business Ryokan it feels slightly darker than major chains, but it was properly cleaned and very comfortable. The bed has an old-style spring mattress and is firm. Only towels were provided in the Room; I picked up a toothbrush and other amenities next to the front desk. The bathroom is a compact unit bath and quite small, but that’s part of the charm—no issues using it. It’s located at the entrance to an area with lots of bars, so you won’t have trouble finding food or drinks. A convenience store is a 1-minute walk away. There’s also a supermarket nearby. They also offer loaner umbrellas, so you’re covered even on rainy days. Overall, I was very satisfied. If I stay around Shin-Yamaguchi again, I’d like to stay here again.
