This was my first time staying here. It was about a 15-minute walk (at a relaxed pace) from JR Chuo Main Line Ryuo Station. There is a 7-Eleven along the way. There are several chain restaurants near the Accommodation. Both the Accommodation and its Facilities have a retro Showa-era feel, but the free-flowing natural hot spring water is wonderful. There are two indoor baths; in one of them, you can soak while breathing in radon and ozone. There is also a separate cold-water bath, with continuously flowing water as well. The baths are available all night, but close at 8:30 AM, so be sure to take your morning bath early. The Room toilet has a washlet bidet seat. I had a very relaxing stay. After work, I took the limited express from Tokyo Station (the 6:15 PM Kaiji bound for Ryuo) and arrived in about two hours with no transfers. I would love to stay again if I have the chance.

Even without any add-ons, both the quality and quantity were satisfying. From the Room, you get an unobstructed view of Kagoshima Bay and the Osumi Peninsula! It would have been even better if the open-air bath were right by the sea, but the Onsen itself is excellent, so I can live with it. During my stay, the shared sand-steaming bath was under renovation, but they kindly guided me to a Facility at a nearby Hotel instead, which was very helpful. This should definitely be on your list when visiting Ibusuki.

It’s a maisonette-style Room, with high ceilings in the living area on the third floor—very stylishly designed. Although breakfast is complimentary, it was very satisfying and delicious. The only downsides were that there was no mobile signal in the first-floor bedroom, and there was a slight lingering barbecue smell in the Room. Everything, including the room, toilet, and bath, was great. The Onsen was the best. Since it was a cottage, I could enjoy it with peace of mind even with a dog. We had shabu-shabu served in the room, and it was delicious. Next time, I think I'd like to have a BBQ outside.
