Even during the busy Obon season, I was allowed to use a room by myself, and it was very comfortable. The staff were also pleasant, making it a welcoming Accommodation. The bath was spacious and very relaxing.

The meals were absolutely delicious. Among all the guesthouses we’ve stayed at so far, this one was outstanding by far! We were also surprised by the very reasonable prices for alcoholic drinks. We were moved by the silhouette of Mt. Fuji glowing in the sunset from our Room, and by the moon and stars in the night sky. Thank you for such a wonderful time!

I stayed here during the Lantern Festival. When I asked the front desk staff how to get to the venue, they explained it very kindly and thoroughly, and I was able to get there without any trouble. Thank you. The Room and amenities were consistently satisfying as always. There are various parking lots (paid coin-operated parking) nearby, but the fees vary more than expected, so I recommend comparing options.

I stayed for one night because a family member was being discharged early in the morning. It’s very convenient since it’s close to both the station and the hospital. I booked a non-smoking Room, and I wasn’t thrilled to learn there was a smoking area on the floor, but thankfully there was no cigarette smell. The unit bath was fairly spacious, and I also liked that the sink area was separate. However, due to my misunderstanding, I thought Kikonai also charged an Accommodation Tax, so I asked a male staff member at the front desk what the difference is between places that charge it and places that don’t. His response was basically “Why are you asking me?” When I looked into it more closely, it seems all of Hokkaido may be subject to an Accommodation Tax. I’ll check later, but since it’s a Hotel-related question, I would have appreciated an answer (sorry for my ignorance). Also, I wasn’t told that there were no amenities in the Room and that I needed to pick them up at the front desk. It was a hassle to go get them, but since I had stayed at a friend’s place until the day before and still had some with me, I used those instead. I’m glad I kept them with me rather than packing them away. There were cars with license plates from many different areas around Hokkaido, but the Hotel itself was quiet and nice. There are convenience stores and izakaya nearby as well, so it didn’t feel inconvenient. If I go to Kikonai again, I’d like to stay here again. One thing I found strange is why staying on Monday costs more than staying on Sunday. (Sorry again for my lack of knowledge.) Most other places are cheaper on weekdays—just something I wondered about.

We truly enjoyed everything—from the meals and hospitality to the conversation and even the magic show. This Accommodation is highly recommended for anyone who would like to interact with local people.

From arrival onward, everything was pleasant! They kindly accommodated all of our requests. The Room was clean, and with the toilet and bath separate, it felt spacious and relaxing overall. Having parking right in front of the Accommodation is rare in Ikaho, so that was a big plus. There wasn’t one particular standout dish, but everything was tasty and we ate until we were full. For this price, being able to stay so comfortably felt like an excellent value. Next time, I’d love to come again with my whole family.

This Accommodation sits at the highest point of Arifuku Onsen in Gotsu City, Shimane Prefecture. I stayed here eight years ago and returned this time. It used to be a historic, retro inn, but after the renovation it has been transformed into a wonderful Onsen Accommodation that beautifully blends tasteful interiors with a nostalgic atmosphere. Dinner was a full-course meal at a nearby Italian restaurant included in the Plan. Despite being stylish, they also provided chopsticks, and every dish was carefully prepared with delicate seasoning—everything was truly delicious. Breakfast was also very good, though I would have liked one more side dish (such as dried fish). The Onsen water has a silky, slightly slippery feel—perhaps that’s why it’s known as “beautifying” water. I’ve visited many hot spring areas, but this texture is quite rare. There is also a glass window in the dining room floor where you can see the source spring. On Saturday nights, it seems you can watch Iwami Kagura at the nearby Kagura hall just steps from the Accommodation. Unfortunately, my stay wasn’t on a Saturday so I couldn’t see it, but next time I’d like to make my Reservation for a Saturday.

I stayed here for a live show at Tokyo Dome. It was convenient—about a 15–20 minute walk to the Dome!! The Room was spacious, which was great. It’s set back from the main road, so it was quiet and relaxing! I added breakfast at check-in; you can choose Japanese or Western, and there’s also a buffet selection, which was nice. There are plenty of convenience stores and restaurants nearby, so I had no trouble finding places to eat. Even though I made an unusual Reservation, the staff handled it very kindly and carefully, which really helped me. They even called to Check Reservation after my stay—thank you so much!! I’d like to stay here again when I attend another event at the Dome.

As a container house, the Room isn’t very spacious, but it’s more than enough if you just need a place to sleep. It was clean and comfortable to stay in. It’s convenient that you can park in the parking lot and enter the Room right away. Each Room is separate, so there’s no noise from neighbors. I’d like to stay here again if I have the chance.

It’s right in front of the ocean, so we could go to the beach immediately. The Room was very clean, and the barbecue was delicious! The kids had a great time too.

I headed there by motorcycle this time, but it unexpectedly broke down and I couldn’t make it… If I get another chance, I’d like to stay there. If I had to mention one thing, the staff weren’t rude or careless, but when I was arranging the cancellation around 8:00 PM, the person I spoke with used fairly broken Japanese. It would be helpful if that could be improved.

We stayed here as a base for a ski trip to Naeba, Suhara, and Kagura. Since we chose an expressway discount plan with a lift-ticket set for touring multiple resorts, we didn’t worry about the distance to the nearest interchange. We narrowed down options across several areas and booked based on this priority: a high-quality Onsen available anytime > location (quiet and tucked away) > price. The Onsen is pleasantly lukewarm with soft water quality—I’ve lost count of how many times I soaked. It feels like being wrapped in a futon, and it’s so relaxing that once I soaked absentmindedly without even turning on the bath lights before evening… and before I knew it, it was midnight. Unlike circulated baths that make you sweat heavily in 5–10 minutes, this one is different: no matter how many times I bathed, my skin never felt dry. On the guestroom floor there is a microwave, vending machines for soft drinks, alcohol, and snacks, plus a jug of local spring water. It seemed like soft water and tasted great—I refilled it many times. I’ll stop here—if I praise it too much, I might not be able to get a Reservation next season. Thank you for a wonderful trip.

We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days with two adults and two children. The Room was clean and spacious enough for four people. There was also a hammock and an attached bath, so the kids had a great time. I didn’t use it myself, but there was a powder room by the toilet, which I think would be very convenient for young women. Above all, the meals were delicious and generous in portion size—breakfast was more than we could finish. Since we stayed two nights, they also changed the menu slightly, which we really appreciated. I had the privilege of spending New Year's for the first time at Kinjohro, one of Kanazawa's most renowned ryokan. With my mother being from Kanazawa and having spent six years studying in this city myself, it had always been a dream to welcome the New Year at Kinjohro. However, I hesitated for a long time, feeling that such a prestigious and traditional ryokan might be beyond my reach. This year, I finally had the opportunity to visit Kanazawa with my son and fulfill this long-held dream. The elegant architecture, refined furnishings harmonizing sophistication and grace, exquisite Kutani ware and Kaga Yuzen kimonos—everything exuded timeless beauty. The traditional Kaga cuisine featuring local specialties like yellowtail fish, crab, duck dishes such as kamo-jibu stew prepared with care using authentic ingredients—and even the osechi New Year’s feast—were simply exceptional. The room and bath filled with the soothing scent of cypress wood added to an unforgettable experience. Above all else was the heartfelt hospitality provided by staff who embody over 130 years of tradition in this historic city of Kanazawa. It felt as though we were transported back in time to experience the grandeur of Kaga Hyakumangoku culture. On New Year's morning after enjoying osechi cuisine, we joined other guests along with the owner, proprietress (okami), head chef, staff members and their families for a mochi-pounding event at the entrance. The friendly atmosphere shared among everyone under glimpses of blue sky through clouds made it truly special—the taste of kinako-coated mochi will remain etched in our memories alongside our stay at Kinjohro. Thank you so much to everyone at Kinjohro! I look forward to experiencing more seasonal delights from Kanazawa’s rich culture through future visits here.

During the autumn foliage season, I hurriedly searched for accommodation with a large public bath. Unexpectedly, I found one that met my requirements and was very pleased. I am satisfied with my stay. I used the large public bath once at night and three times in the morning. Since my second son attends Kyoto University, we visited him from Tokyo during his school festival. As his apartment only has a unit bath, we chose this accommodation so he could enjoy a spacious bath for a change. He was very satisfied with both the bath and breakfast, which made me happy as a parent.

I really enjoyed the Hoshino world. It has a strong, distinctive style (in a good way). Since Taketomi was a more traditional, mellow experience, that may be why it stood out even more this time. The deep-sea-like reception area, Rooms without an entryway, and a dining table with a sink were all surprising in terms of the facilities—and uniquely fun. There are many different activity programs as well. The performers in “Hamauri Ashibi” were bright, entertaining, and wonderful, and Ms. M’s “Garden Tour” guide was warm and enjoyable too. Going forward, the key will be how well you can communicate and share with guests that your interpretation of “Hoshinoya luxury,” including personal service, is not the conventional approach. When you’ve become the undisputed “top tier,” please let me stay again!

We were able to spend a relaxing Obon holiday as a family of three. The meals were very delicious, and we also enjoyed taking our time with coffee at The Perch. Since our daughter started working in Osaka, our family has taken a small luxury trip every summer for 2 nights and 3 days somewhere near Osaka. This was our third visit to Arima Onsen, and we were able to truly unwind. The food was especially wonderful, and we look forward to it every time—my husband even said this was the best meal he can remember having here. The Accommodation itself is a charming building that conveys a sense of history, which we really appreciated. We also liked that the bathing area had separate spaces for the bath and the washing area. However, the shower pressure was weak, so we think it would be even better if that could be improved. (Personally, I was disappointed that the open-air bath in our Room was not Onsen water and that the shower water pressure in the Room was weak.) Overall, it was a very memorable stay. Thank you very much for taking care of us for three days.

Hearing that the auberge offered a full-course French dinner, I quickly booked as soon as a room became available. Every dish was beautifully presented and delicious. I’m not an expert in French cuisine, but it felt like authentic local cooking rather than “Japanized” French food. I was especially impressed by the healthy, colorful beet-based appetizers and desserts, the tangy tomato soup, and the bone-in lamb—along with vegetables on the same plate, each carefully seasoned differently. The highlight was the nougat glacé for dessert. It was my first time trying it; it looked beautiful, and I loved its pleasantly firm texture and sweetness. I can see why some guests visit just for this menu. I would love to return.
