My family and I stayed here for a fireworks festival. We were worried about parking, so we called before our stay to confirm, and we could already feel the hospitality even before arriving. On the day, when we arrived at the Hotel, they kindly showed us where to park. Thank you very much. Only a smoking Room was available, but there was no noticeable smell, and an air purifier had been set up in the Room, so we were able to stay comfortably. The large public bath (for women—and maybe for men as well?) is managed with a key at the front desk, so there was no situation where it was too crowded to enter. With good timing, I was able to use the newly renovated bath almost privately. All of the staff were very kind, and it felt like visiting relatives or friends. I would like to stay again. Thank you for taking such good care of us.

I love Yuya Onsen and visit a few times a year, and this time I stayed at Ryokan Hisago. It’s a long-established Ryokan built along the river, and it seems the Rooms have been renovated, so I was really looking forward to it. From check-in, we received a warm welcome and were shown to our Room—and it was exactly as I had hoped! It was clean with a comfortable layout, and the size was more than sufficient. When you open the window, you can hear the murmur of the river and the calls of wildlife, which is incredibly soothing. The meals were very well seasoned, and freshly prepared dishes were brought out one after another, making everything even more enjoyable. The bath temperature was slightly on the lukewarm side, so you can relax while looking out at the river. If available, you can use the private open-air bath freely, so I was able to enjoy it in the evening, at night, and in the morning as well. It was also great that it could be used throughout the night. This is an Accommodation I’d love to visit again.

The Room was very clean, beautifully furnished, and the view from the window was wonderful. We didn’t use the large private bath, but the bath in the Room was excellent and more than enough for us. Each dish was carefully prepared and delicious. (This may just be personal preference, but I would have liked it even more if the main course at dinner hadn’t been acqua pazza—it felt like a bit of a waste of such good ingredients.) The dried horse mackerel at breakfast was exceptionally tasty.

It was a wonderful Accommodation, just as the Reviews said! Because it’s located up in the mountains, the air is crisp and clear, and the stars in the night sky are simply beautiful. Even though it was August, the nighttime temperature was around 23°C and pleasantly cool—an ideal summer retreat. Bringing protection against insect bites is recommended. The building itself is old, but the Room is spacious, and everything—including the bath—was impeccably clean, not even a single hair out of place. Every dish was delicious, with just the right portion sizes, and we were extremely satisfied. It had a warm, homey atmosphere that felt like being back at my parents’ house, and meeting an adorable cat at night was so soothing. I’d love to stay again!

Although I checked in late at night due to a night flight, the front desk staff provided courteous service. The hotel is a 1,500 yen taxi ride from the airport. The building felt like a converted apartment, but it was clean and comfortable for just sleeping. Amenities were minimal but sufficient. I did laundry and used the bathroom dryer, and everything was dry by morning, which was very convenient! There is a car rental service right below the hotel, making it easy to get moving. Affordable prices, kind staff, and I would definitely stay here again if I have the chance!

The meals were delicious, just as the reviews said. The hospitable service was also excellent. Being able to rent a car made the trip very comfortable. Thank you very much!

I’ve stayed here twice, and I was satisfied both times. The place is very clean, and the amenities and appliances provided—along with the hand soap and diffuser—are all modern and stylish. I liked them so much that I use similar items at home now. I’ll definitely stay here again when I visit Hiroshima.

This was my first stay here. The Room was beautifully designed and very comfortable. The open-air bath, a rock bath kept at the perfect temperature, felt wonderful at any time, and there was also a reclining bath where I could truly relax. The Japanese garden was also stunning and helped me forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The meals used plenty of local ingredients and were delicious. All staff provided very courteous service, and I would love to visit again. Thank you very much.

This was my first stay. The front desk staff were very helpful, and the explanations about the facilities were easy to understand. The building and baths were also very clean, which made for a pleasant experience. I truly enjoyed a quiet, peaceful time. The meal—especially the wild boar hot pot—was delicious. The only minor issue was that the okra at dinner was a bit tough, and the skin of the cherry tomatoes was also somewhat tough. Next time, I’d like to come back to try the wild boar teppanyaki-style dish. Overall, I was very satisfied.

The property had been renovated last year, and it was lovely with a modern Japanese style. However, the lighting was too dim and felt a bit inconvenient, so it would have been nice to have adjustable lighting. Also, the bed was quite low and there was only a floor chair, which might be tough for elderly guests. The bath left my skin silky smooth, and the effect lasted even after I got home. Wonderful. Niigata edamame was offered as a welcome service—local produce really is delicious. The meals were also very tasty. There was a wide selection of alcohol, which I enjoyed. I’m grateful to the staff for accommodating my requests without showing any displeasure. Thank you very much.

We stayed here with a large group in January. First of all, the traditional kura-style building is truly one of a kind. It has been beautifully renovated to suit modern needs while preserving the charm of classic Japanese architecture. It’s even more impressive in person than in photos, and you can really enjoy the building itself—perfect for anyone who loves architecture. The living room feels incredibly open, and even with a big group it never felt cramped. The kitchen was surprisingly spacious, and it was stocked with more than enough cookware and appliances. There was also a great variety of tableware, all stylish, which made cooking even more enjoyable. The dishwasher in particular was large and high-performance, making cleanup easy even for a big group. There are multiple bedrooms as well, so everyone can rest comfortably. This Accommodation is ideal for the purpose of “staying together as a large group and relaxing.” Overall it’s very spacious, so we could spend time there without feeling self-conscious. We only ordered breakfast, but it was simple Japanese food and very delicious. For lunch and dinner we arranged our own meals—buying ingredients at nearby supermarkets (Tsuruya and AEON are conveniently close) and cooking ourselves—and that became part of the fun of the stay. With such well-equipped facilities, this place is especially recommended for those who enjoy cooking. Even though it was cold around New Year’s, the inside was warm and comfortable. The separate hinoki bathhouse was amazing; you heat the indoor bath yourself, but the scent of hinoki wood and the atmosphere were truly relaxing. There is also another bath in the main house (with a modern tub), which you can use as well—and we appreciated the thoughtful touch of underfloor heating in the changing area there. We were highly satisfied with everything—the space, facilities, and overall atmosphere—and would love to visit again in a different season.

Surrounded by the atmosphere of a wonderful, historic old castle, we were able to forget everyday life and spend a relaxing, special time together as a family. The view from the pool terrace was truly breathtaking. Spending time while looking out over Izu’s rich nature felt incredibly luxurious, and it left us refreshed to the core. It’s an outstanding location that feels soothing even just to gaze at the scenery. Our children absolutely loved the pool and were thrilled the moment we arrived! They enjoyed it again and again during our stay, smiling nonstop and saying, “We want to come back!” At the on-site museum, beautiful stained glass created a magical ambiance, and we were also able to listen to live pipe organ music—an indulgent moment that was deeply calming. Every dish at the café was delicious; the pizza and pasta were exceptional. Thanks to the staff’s thoughtful attention and warm hospitality, we felt comfortable and at ease even with small children. Not only the Accommodation but also the museum and café—the entire Facility is full of charm—making this a wonderfully fulfilling vacation that will stay in our family’s memories. We would love to visit again. Thank you very much for such a lovely time.

I stayed for one night with a friend. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen, knitting while watching dramas, and spending time at a relaxed pace surrounded by nature! The cabin was well-equipped with various utensils and seasonings, which was very convenient. Additionally, the distance from neighboring cabins allowed us to enjoy our stay without worrying about others. I would love to visit other SANU locations as well!

I stayed for two nights in a cabin with a sauna in mid-April. Although it was closer to town than I expected, the location truly let me experience the “Live with nature” concept. Since I usually live near the sea, being surrounded by mountains felt refreshing. The air was so clear, and I had a wonderfully comfortable stay. The Room—its floors and furniture—was mostly made of wood, creating a soothing space that felt great on bare skin and made me want to spend the whole day there without even going outside. I also enjoyed both the sauna and the campfire at a relaxed pace. At the same time, if you drive out, there are plenty of charming cafes and restaurants nearby, making it perfect for a food-focused trip as well. The email sent before check-in included detailed information about the base’s Facility and amenities, as well as tips about the surrounding area, which helped me plan my trip. Even without staff on-site, I felt warm hospitality. One delightful surprise was being greeted by monkeys when I stepped outside in the morning—it made nature feel even closer. If you want to enjoy both slow time here and sightseeing around the area, I strongly recommend staying at least two nights! Next time, I’d love to stay at another SANU location too.

Delicious meals and a rich Moor Onsen—something you rarely come across. I’m worried about the major earthquake after returning home. I’ll visit again.

We made a Reservation because the Room has a reclining bath. Our plan for the day was to soak in it at night while looking up at the sky, but since it rained, we thought we would just relax and listen to the sound of the rain. However, there were so many insects that we gave up on using it at night. The Ryokan staff said it was an unusually heavy day for insects as well. We took it positively as proof of how rich the nature is, and enjoyed the reclining bath slowly after sunrise instead. It was truly surrounded by nature, and the bath felt wonderful. As for dinner, my husband and I are not good with river fish, so we ended up leaving some behind—sorry about that. The quantity and flavor were more than enough; it was an excellent meal. Regarding service, I can’t go into details, but there was something where I caused trouble. When I explained this to the front desk staff, they instead apologized for any inconvenience to us. I’m not comfortable with overly close service, but their sense of distance was just right, and we had a very pleasant day. We would like to visit again in winter.

This was my first time visiting Yoshino. The cherry blossoms had not yet started to bloom, but we were shown to a Room with a wonderful view of the Ryokan’s courtyard. I can imagine how spectacular it must be when the blossoms are in full bloom. The meals (dinner and breakfast) were very delicious. The Onsen was just right, and I could enjoy it as many times as I liked without feeling unwell from the hot water.

The location, Room, bath, and meals were all outstanding. The meals in particular were excellent. This is an Accommodation I would definitely like to stay at again when traveling to the Kushiro area.

I stayed in a single Room while visiting my hometown. It was quiet, and I slept well. Amenities are available at the entrance, so you can take only what you need, which kept things uncluttered. I would like to stay here again.

A Two-Aunt Getaway It was quiet, and the bath was pleasantly warm, so we were able to relax and take our time.
