I stayed at Mihara Kokusai Hotel as a base for a road trip around the Setouchi area and the Chugoku region. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a gentle, nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere that’s simply irresistible. It has a retro, calming charm you won’t find in newer, spotless hotels—and I liked it so much that I’d happily make it my go-to Hotel whenever I visit Mihara. While the building and Facility do show their age in places, everything is meticulously cleaned and clearly well cared for, so there was no discomfort at all. If anything, the nostalgic ambiance softly melts away travel fatigue and makes you feel as relaxed as if you were in your own Room. The unhurried pace and warmth of this place are rare qualities these days. During my stay, I accidentally left some belongings behind—without realizing it myself until the Hotel contacted me. Even though I caused them trouble, their phone support was truly excellent. They showed genuine concern for my situation and guided me quickly and accurately through what to do next. It didn’t feel like a routine procedure; their warm, heartfelt response let me leave everything in their hands with complete peace of mind. I’m sincerely grateful. For those arriving by car: I’ll add a note about parking. On your first visit, the entrance layout and parking spaces might make you think, “This could be a bit tricky.” But once you get used to it, coming and going is smooth and stress-free. You just need to be slightly careful at first—nothing to worry about. Overall, this is an extremely satisfying Hotel where any downside of an older building is more than made up for by outstanding hospitality from the staff and its one-of-a-kind retro appeal. I’ve grown even fonder of this place thanks to its warmth and kindness. The next time I’m driving through this area again, I’ll book here without hesitation. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

We stayed with two families and found the space and layout to be more than sufficient. The single-story design is reassuring for families with small children. We were especially satisfied with the well-equipped amenities, including a washing machine and coffee maker. There were enough towels in the room for everyone, and we appreciated having unlimited access to the Onsen. [To the Facility] Since we visited after playing in the snow nearby, it would be even more convenient if there were hanger racks to dry our wearables and shoe trays to dry shoes indoors. Additionally, there were only large deep plates available; having some smaller ones would be nice. It would also be helpful if you could include a floor plan of the room and a list of amenities on your website so that guests can better prepare their stay.

This time, we used the service for my daughter's university entrance exam. Despite having a reservation for a smoking room, they changed my daughter's room to non-smoking. This was very much appreciated by my daughter, who is not fond of the smell of tobacco. Thanks to this, she was able to sleep soundly and successfully complete her interview the next day. I would definitely like to use it again if the opportunity arises. Thank you very much.

The host was very hospitable and took great care of us. We left our luggage, went out, and when we returned, they kindly sent it to our next accommodation. We are truly grateful for the help. Other rooms were occupied by foreign guests. It was so quiet that we found ourselves being extra cautious not to make noise. I thought there might not be pajamas provided, so I brought my own, but there were one-piece pajamas available. Bringing leggings might be a good idea as well. The bath set included Shiseido products, which made my hair silky smooth. Thank you very much for your hospitality!

I stayed on a weekday in January. Perhaps because there were few guests, it was wonderfully quiet amid the falling snow, and I was able to fully enjoy this Accommodation. Although it is not a Hotel so I did not have high expectations for the Room, I was kindly upgraded and stayed in a very nice Room. Everyone was pleasant and welcoming, and the meals suited us perfectly as a middle-aged couple. The main hall has an amazing atmosphere and is a must-see. Jokoin’s location is also excellent, making our visit to Mount Koya truly satisfying. Thank you very much.

I used it after the live show. The staff at the Stays were really kind and nice. It was extremely close to the venue, and I definitely want to use it again next time. There doesn't seem to be an izakaya nearby, but there are quite a few chain stores open late, which were sufficient for meals and drinks after the live show. I look forward to staying again.

A cozy accommodation with only 5 rooms, the room we stayed in featured a spacious indoor bath and an open-air bath with a view of the Kirishima mountain range. The onsen water, both in the indoor and open-air baths, was free-flowing and mixed with natural minerals, providing great satisfaction. The room was thoroughly cleaned and had a sense of cleanliness throughout. Meals were served in a Western style for both dinner and breakfast, so those who prefer Japanese cuisine might find it less satisfying. While there was an explanation of the dishes during serving, having a dinner menu would have been helpful. Breakfast included freshly baked homemade bread, which was delightful; however, it would have been even better if jams or similar accompaniments were provided. There were five types of bread per person—too much to finish—but they kindly wrapped them as souvenirs. Meals were served in private dining rooms where wearing loungewear from your room was acceptable. However, since the loungewear also doubled as sleepwear, it would be better to separate them into two sets. Especially during colder seasons, moving to the dining area in loungewear might feel chilly. Overall, this accommodation provided a highly satisfying experience!

I have stayed here more than 10 times since it opened. I’m happy that the Room has an Onsen. The large public bath is nice too, but being able to soak in my own private Onsen is the best. The meals seem to change over time, perhaps because the chef changes, but this time was the best so far. Breakfast had changed to something like a bento served in a basket. It used to have more items and more dishes, but I can’t eat that much in the morning anyway, so maybe this is what they settled on. This time I was glad to stay at a lower price thanks to the “Kagoshima Discount.” All of the staff are kind, and since there aren’t many Rooms, the whole Hotel feels relaxed and unhurried. Because the building is covered in hinoki wood, the Room has a pleasant fragrance that feels soothing and calming. I will stay again.

Thank you for taking care of us on August 10th and 11th. We arrived by motorcycle and were worried about parking, but you came out as soon as we arrived and kindly let us park in a covered area. We were truly impressed by your thoughtfulness. The food was delicious as well. The bath left our skin feeling smooth, and we were able to relax deeply and enjoy a wonderful time. The amenities are exceptionally well-equipped, providing everything you could possibly need during your stay. In addition to linens, appliances, and tableware, the refrigerator is stocked with a variety of soft drinks, alcoholic beverages, condiments, fruits, and even rice—truly impressive. There are also plenty of games and toys for indoor and outdoor use as well as leisure equipment for enjoying the nearby beach. You can feel the owner's genuine desire to warmly welcome guests through these thoughtful provisions. After speaking with the owner personally, I was even more charmed by their wonderful personality beyond just the amazing amenities. While meals are not provided, given how fully equipped everything is as mentioned above, it’s easy to shop at a supermarket just a few minutes away by car and cook your own meals. However, I recommend going shopping earlier in the evening since shelves were quite empty before 7 PM. Our stay at this all-inclusive private villa "Villa Ao" made for an absolutely perfect Okinawa experience! My family loved it so much that we’re already planning to stay here again on our next trip to Okinawa!

Over the past few months, I have stayed at several Business Hotels, but this one had the best price, service, parking, and staff. I would like to stay here every month.

Teradomari offers a wide range of Hotels and Ryokan along its long coastline, making it hard to choose, but I was drawn to Hokushinkan, nestled in the mountains a little away from the shore. This renovated former therapeutic Accommodation features two types of lukewarm baths and only seven Rooms, which sounded perfect for a quiet stay, so I chose a Room with a private bath. The Room we stayed in had tasteful, refined interiors, and from the window we enjoyed fresh greenery in the mountains and garden as well as small birds. No slippers are needed inside the building. Both breakfast and dinner were beautifully presented and delicious, allowing us to relax and spend our time peacefully. We would love to return as a couple for a Multiple Night Stay next time. (We were so full that we couldn’t finish the rice and miso soup, so we’d like to try again.)

Thank you for allowing us to spend a relaxing time. The wonderful Room had a wood stove, and the dinner was a boar hot pot that was more than we could eat. The next day, it turned into a beautiful snowy landscape, becoming an early white Christmas. Even our shy dog seemed to warm up to the owner. They are a gentle and kind person.

The Facility itself seemed old, but it was renovated in key areas, making it very clean and comfortable to stay. The parking lot was right in front, which was very convenient. The private bath could be reserved by the hour, so even with children, we could enjoy it at a relaxed pace. The breakfast was especially delicious and extremely satisfying.

Looking forward to enjoying grilled squid by the sea and staying at "Yadokari." This year, I was fully satisfied with the delicious meals. The staff at the accommodation were very kind, making me feel like I was back home. Thank you also for your help with the stag beetles and cicadas. I look forward to visiting again next year!

The Accommodation staff were very kind. The parking lot is not on the property, but it was very close, and they explained the location in detail, so we had no trouble at all. The Room, bath, and toilet were all very clean. There was a door between the bath/changing area and the sink area, so we could use the sink independently, which was very convenient for brushing our teeth and washing our hands. There were Kanazawa sweets on the table, and they were so delicious that we bought some as souvenirs to take home. Everyone loved them. We often have trouble sleeping when we travel and end up short on sleep, but this time our whole family slept soundly and we were able to enjoy sightseeing again the next day.

This was my first stay. The street in front of the Hotel faces the Tokyo Skytree, and there is also a supermarket nearby. The front desk staff provided polite service with clear explanations, and I found the cute decor near the outdoor smoking area bench to be heartwarming. Room wear can be chosen before taking the elevator. Towels and basic amenities are available in the Room, along with bottled water in the refrigerator. There is also stick tea and coffee with a kettle provided. The Room layout is efficient, though the refrigerator is slightly small without a freezer compartment—so ice or frozen items might not work well here. Suitcases can fit under the bed for storage convenience. My Room had a simple stool as seating, which was sufficient for me. There are USB ports and power outlets by the bedside, as well as a safe for storing valuables when using facilities like an open-air bath or while sleeping at night for peace of mind. The rooftop open-air bath has high walls that block views but offers a refreshing experience overall! The baths alternate between men’s and women’s use; although I checked in late at night thinking I’d miss it, I was delighted to find morning hours allocated for women too! There are three washing stations available inside; however, only baskets are provided in changing areas instead of lockers—guests bring their towels from their Rooms using mesh bags provided by Hotel management during check-in procedures. I appreciated that there wasn’t any chlorine smell from bathing water itself either! A minor downside: my Room had an overly sweet scent lingering around initially (possibly air freshener?), plus slight odor issues noticed while operating toilet bidet functions—it seemed chlorine-based perhaps? This could vary depending on individual Rooms though. Overall impression remains highly positive—I’d love returning again someday soon! While exploring Kappabashi shopping street amidst summer heat proved challenging due limited time outdoors—it still felt like such vibrant neighborhood full exciting discoveries awaiting next visit ahead!

I was surprised to find a double bed instead of the two futons in a Japanese-style room as shown in the photo, but it was spacious and not a problem at all. The owner was kind, and both the room and the shared areas were very clean and charming. I was delighted with the delicious breakfast provided. The other rooms are also cute, so I would love to stay again on another occasion.

It was an excellent Ryokan. I was very satisfied with everything, including the hostess’s warm smile and the owner’s superb cooking. There are not many Onsen that welcome solo guests, but this is an Onsen I’d like to visit every month. The Onsen water was very hot—locals even told me it was hot—but the quality of the spring water was wonderful and it melted away my fatigue.
