We stayed with four people. Even with four beds lined up, the Room didn’t feel cramped and was comfortable. The Room was a bit dark, so we tried various ways to brighten it, but it seemed there weren’t enough light bulbs, and even at maximum brightness it still felt dim. We used the buffet for meals. The food was close to our seats, and both the selection and taste were excellent. The staff cleared our plates and checked that dishes weren’t running out, and everything—including the tables—was clean with no mess. We’d like to stay here again when we visit the amusement park.

I had long been interested in the Hazu Group’s Hotel, and my wish finally came true with my first stay. Everything was exactly to our taste: the quiet, secluded setting away from the village; the intimate scale of only five rooms; the highly private location where you can hear the gentle murmur of the river up close; the refined and calming interior design; the riverside open-air bath and hinoki bath; delicious dishes that make great use of local ingredients, beautifully complemented by thoughtful tableware; and the gassho-style building with its thick beams and intricate details. The staff’s hospitality—attentive yet at a comfortable distance—was also wonderful. Part of me wants to keep this Accommodation a secret, but it is such an exceptional find that I can’t help but give it top marks. We will definitely be returning, and I would love to stay at other Accommodations in the Hazu Group as well. It was a truly fulfilling time of rest. Thank you very much.

On my previous trip I stayed here with friends, but this time I had the pleasure of staying with my elderly mother to celebrate her 88th birthday. Because she has difficulty walking, I was a little worried about accessibility, but you kindly assisted us in every situation and we were able to stay comfortably. Although it rained unfortunately, we were able to relax and talk in our Room, and also enjoy a pottery painting experience, making it a truly happy time. The meals were also very delicious. Not only the Akaushi beef and fish, but the Yamato vegetables were wonderful as well. We could also feel the scenery of Nara through the tableware, and the seasonal hydrangeas painted on it delighted us visually too. On our way to the dining area, we found a large snail. Seeing my mother smile happily like a child left a strong impression on me, and it made me realize again that choosing Ubusuna no Sato for this trip was the right decision. Thank you very much for giving us such a happy time. I’m already looking forward to receiving the plate we painted.

I have stayed at Hotels across the whole country, but this stay was truly memorable. What impressed me first was the hospitality of the staff. It wasn’t a formal, scripted service—each person conveyed a genuine warmth that made it clear they truly love this town and this Accommodation, and I felt comfortable throughout my stay. For dinner, we went to a restaurant called “Nao,” which the Hotel recommended, and it was absolutely the right choice. It wasn’t aimed at tourists; it let us experience local charm, and it allowed us to enjoy not only our stay but also the city of Otsu itself. I think this is a unique value that comes from a Hotel that treasures its connection with the community. In the past, I also stayed with a large group at Matsumoto Jujo, another property in the Jiyujin Hotels group (I organized that trip). Matsumoto Jujo was highly satisfying as well, but personally, HOTEL Ko Otsu Hyakucho left an even stronger impression. The reason is the space and hospitality created by making use of traditional townhouses designated as Registered Tangible Cultural Properties. Rather than simply staying at a Hotel, it felt like living in the town for a while. While preserving the character of these historic buildings, comfort is fully ensured, creating a distinctive sense of calm. It offered an appeal you can’t get from large-scale Hotels or luxury Ryokan. If you’re looking not for flashy services or extravagant Facility features but to enjoy local culture, streetscapes, and encounters with people, I highly recommend this Accommodation. It was one of those rare Hotels where staying there becomes part of the purpose of your trip.

This was my second stay. I chose the plan for guests aged 50 and over, which included spiny lobster, abalone, and golden eye snapper. The meals were so delicious that I decided to return. Both the fish-focused dinner and the breakfast featuring spiny lobster miso soup and grilled horse mackerel were satisfying and filling. However, there were two things I found a bit disappointing this time. First, there was noise after 11:30 PM. It seemed to come from upstairs, possibly due to cleaning in the bath area. Other than that, it was very quiet, so the noise at night surprised me. Second, while they were preparing my futon bed, my coffee cup was taken away even though I had been using it. When I wanted to drink coffee later on but couldn’t find the cup anymore, it left me feeling disappointed. The staff serving breakfast were very pleasant and made for a nice departure experience overall. Since Awa-Kominato is one of my favorite places, I'll probably visit again in the future. Even if accommodations are not large-scale establishments, I'd like to choose based on their unique qualities each time!

Traveling with my dog, we enjoyed a wonderful view with Kofu Beach right in front of us (a crystal-clear sea popular with surfers; the shoreline has become narrower than in the past, but the ocean feels even more powerful now). It rained the next day, but when I visited before, the sun rose over the sea—highly recommended for a picture-perfect view. Next time, I definitely want to see the sunrise. The Hotel staff were very kind and even took a commemorative photo for us in the lobby, so we have a great keepsake. Thank you very much.

We stayed over a three-day weekend. It was a luxurious experience to stay in a Tangible Cultural Property. The living room was spacious, and the kids ran around the Room and watched YouTube on the projector! The adults were able to relax and unwind in the sauna and Onsen. Also, thank you to the staff for being so kind and seeing us off at the end. We’d love to stay again when we visit Gunma.

I stayed here again for work for the first time in over 20 years. It brought back old memories, and the bath while looking up at the sky and the meals were really good. The various transportation options are also very convenient, so I think it’s excellent overall.

Not only is the Room very clean, but the service from all staff—including the front desk, dining area, and housekeeping—is pleasant and welcoming. The free coffee in the lobby is truly delicious. I think it’s a wonderful Hotel.

I contacted the Hotel to let them know I would be late for my scheduled check-in time, and they kindly assured me it was fine, which was a huge help!\nThe Hotel interior was beautiful, and the Room was very comfortable.\nI will definitely stay here again when I come back!!

We stayed here for our summer vacation, using two Rooms for my daughter’s family (four people), us, and three dogs. Our grandchildren were delighted with the spacious Room, the Onsen, and the delicious meals. Since our two-year-old grandchild can’t eat adult meals yet, the staff kindly served food that seemed suitable, which we really appreciated. We would love to stay again when sightseeing in Nikko.

I woke up around 3:00 a.m. and, lying down while looking at Kinko Bay and the crystal-clear starry sky, I saw shooting stars one after another—more than a dozen. It was the first time in my life I had ever seen so many. The walk to the Hotel, the atmosphere in the lobby, and the pool’s blue lighting all felt like being somewhere outside Japan. Since we stayed as a family of three, it became a wonderful memory and we were able to truly relax. Thank you very much.

This was my first stay. The Onsen is hot, but it warms you up wonderfully. The meals were beautifully presented, and even the simple dishes served in small bowls were delicious. I was completely satisfied with every dish. The Facility has many stairs, so it’s a good workout for your legs, and the hallways are lined with one painting after another—making even the long corridors enjoyable!! All of the staff were very kind as well. Thank you very much for taking such good care of us!!

I stayed here with the Zao Snow Monsters package in Shiroishi-Zao. The hot spring was excellent and very refreshing. The meals were very generous, and I ended up leaving a lot. I would like an option with smaller portions.

I had a very satisfying stay at HOLE37. The cottage was spacious and clean, with a high-quality private sauna and cold bath, allowing you to relax at your own pace. The BBQ dinner featured excellent ingredients, and the time spent gazing at the starry sky felt truly special. The staff were attentive and polite, making it a stay I would love to experience again.

I don't smoke, but the smoking room was well-maintained, so I could stay without any concerns.

I stayed here for two days while attending an event in Mitoyo. The location was close and convenient. There was a convenience store nearby, and the free, spacious ground-level parking lot was a big plus. I like Route Inn because you can enjoy a large public bath. Breakfast was also very tasty and satisfying. I would stay here again.

If you request a high-floor, ocean-side room, you can enjoy a wonderful view. Since availability is limited, it may be worth asking in advance. Route Inn breakfasts are generally similar across locations, but this one had a better selection and quality than other Route Inns. By taxi, it’s closer from Nishitetsu Omuta Station.

My parents stayed here when they came to cheer at a game. They said the meals were hearty and delicious, and they were very satisfied.

I do worry that if I rate this place 5 stars, it’ll become even more popular and harder to get a Reservation—but I’ll be honest. Since my first stay, the great location and wonderful employees have made this my go-to Hotel whenever I’m in Tokyo. This time, did the staff get younger? Everyone’s greetings were excellent. I choose between Japanese or Western breakfast depending on my mood, so I usually eat nearby in the morning, and their cheerful “Have a great day” and “Welcome back” made me feel really good. For the first time, I stayed in a Room on the 2nd floor next to the neighboring building, and I noticed some noise—maybe trains? I’m not sure what it was… It bothered me a little. It’s not the Hotel’s fault, though, so my 5-star rating stays the same.
