Even with self check-in, the process was smooth, and it was great that everything from the entrance to the room was clean. I was slightly concerned that the futon sheets came off easily and that the pillows were quite firm.

I stayed at the accommodation again this year following last year. The owner warmly said, "Welcome back," and I found myself replying, "I'm back." In the morning, I enjoyed a walk on the private beach right in front of the accommodation, basking in the sunrise and searching for shells. At night, I spent time on the rooftop gazing at the star-filled sky, experiencing a lifestyle I can't usually enjoy. Breakfast was different every morning, and opening the delivered basket became something to look forward to. I highly recommend reserving dinner during your stay. The owner and chef remembered our conversations from last year and even improved upon the ingredients we praised, offering the best hospitality, delicious meals, and enjoyable conversations. This stay gave me the opportunity to reflect on my approach to work, relationships with others, and daily life, making it a truly wonderful vacation. Thank you very much.

I stayed at the end of February. There was a courtyard inside the room, allowing me to experience the atmosphere of Kyoto while staying indoors, which was a special experience. This time it was a short stay, but next time I would like to take my time and enjoy it more.

I stayed here as a birthday gift for a friend. Since it is an older building, there was a slight draft and it felt a bit cold, but the food was delicious and the staff were very pleasant, so it is an Accommodation I would like to stay at again.

We stayed for one night and two days. The room was compact but very clean, with well-equipped amenities. The bedding was crisp, and the yukata provided in the room was made of sturdy fabric, allowing us to wear it outside comfortably. Each person received two sets of bath towels, along with a bathrobe and pajamas, so we had everything we needed. Since our room included a private open-air onsen, we could enjoy a relaxing soak anytime we wanted. As this accommodation is exclusively for no meals included stays, we were initially concerned about meals; however, its convenient location allowed us to dine out without reservations both in the morning and evening. Even during Obon season, staying here cost only 30,000 yen per person per night—affordable and made for an enjoyable trip!

I stayed with my sister at this accommodation. The hotel is a special space where you can feel attention to detail throughout the premises, allowing us to enjoy an extraordinary time away from the noise of the city despite being in the heart of it. My sister and I often travel together, but we felt our time together was especially meaningful here, which we believe is due to the charm of this hotel. After check-in, we spent happy hour at the bar, discussed our plans for the next day on the rooftop after dinner, and used the open-air bath before breakfast. Although there was no TV in our room, it encouraged more conversation and made us cherish our time together even more than usual. Breakfast featured a healthy menu centered around salads. What left a particularly strong impression during our stay was the smiles of all staff members. We also appreciated their friendly conversations when leaving or returning to the accommodation.

About 30 years ago, I visited Kumihama for a day at the beach, and this time I came with my daughter, who is between jobs, after finishing caregiving for my father. The detached villa is about a 3-minute drive from the main building where breakfast and dinner are served, set along Kumihama Bay beyond a wooded path that keeps it completely private from outside view. The beautifully maintained lawn garden was stunning—like a Scandinavian holiday home. Inside, everything was spotless, and there was even a space to lie down and relax while looking out over the bay—an exceptional experience. Meals are served in private rooms in the main building, but they provide Shuttle Service by car, so there’s nothing to worry about. I was captivated by the crystal-clear flavors of the fish dishes—something you simply can’t find in the Tokyo area—and felt as if my whole body had been cleansed. Most guests seemed to be from the Kansai region, and there were no inbound travelers either. This is a truly superb hidden resort—so please don’t tell too many friends!

A room with extraordinary spaciousness, high ceilings, and a private atmosphere as it is detached. The staff's hospitality was excellent, making it a facility I would recommend even to my most critical friends.

We stayed here on a family trip to Kyoto. Despite its prime location along Nene-no-Michi, which connects Kodaiji Temple and Yasaka Shrine, once you step inside you’ll find a quiet, refined space away from the city bustle—it truly impressed us. The building is said to be 120 years old, yet the interior and Facility are beautifully maintained and very clean, making it extremely comfortable. Thanks to the spacious layout (multiple bedrooms and two bathrooms), we were able to relax at our own pace while still enjoying quality time together as a family. In particular, the view from the second-floor living room with its mini bar was wonderful. Our favorite memory is spending a slow evening there with tea or drinks in hand, chatting as a family. We’re also grateful for the staff’s thoughtful and warm hospitality. It was a special stay that both adults and children thoroughly enjoyed. This is an Accommodation we would absolutely love to return to on our next visit to Kyoto.

At first, I hesitated to make a reservation since there was no large public bath, but the highly-rated meals convinced me to go ahead. This was the best accommodation I've ever stayed at. Each dish felt carefully prepared and was incredibly delicious. There was plenty of my favorite sashimi, lots of seasonal vegetables, and a healthy menu that left me very satisfied. Although I felt quite full, the portions were just right so I could finish everything without leaving any food behind (which would have made me feel guilty and wasteful). The second night's dinner especially impressed me with its variety—sashimi, simmered fish, fried fish, fish Meunière—and even meat dishes were included! There was an onsen within walking distance right behind the hotel where I could enjoy soaking despite there being no large public bath onsite. The rooftop sauna also felt amazing. I tried SUP for the first time and found it easy to ride and fun! Being able to go directly from my room in swimwear made it super convenient. If I have another chance to visit, I'd definitely love to stay here again!

Thank you very much for your hospitality. We enjoyed plenty of delicious, fresh seasonal vegetables. Everything tasted wonderful. It made us want to visit again in a different season. The food was so good that we forgot to take photos—so we only have the first and last ones. The Room was also very clean. Having a kitchen was great. The amenities were tasteful as well. Dinner was enjoyed at the neighboring Hanamusubi, and we also used their baths in the evening, including both Kin-no-Yu and Gin-no-Yu. It was delightful to experience both types of hot springs in a single visit. Since it was just a short walk from Kotori, moving to Hanamusubi's main building was not inconvenient at all. The food was very delicious. Breakfast was served at Kotori, and we also used the private bath there. Despite the rain, we had a relaxing time until departure without any inconvenience. The tofu hot pot for breakfast was excellent. We would love to visit again!

The Asama Onsen district spreads across the eastern part of Matsumoto City, climbing up the foothill slope. The Accommodation is built on the hillside, and the road in front of the entrance is only one lane wide. After leaving your luggage at the Accommodation, you move to the parking area via a narrow alley-like passage about 2 meters wide. If you have a larger car, it seems better to enter from another wider road, park there first, and then carry your luggage. This is an old Accommodation; the furniture and fittings are also old but of good quality, carefully maintained, and immaculately cleaned. The hospitality feels heartfelt; while some younger staff may seem a little awkward, they are poised and dignified. You can sense the refined quality of a prestigious Accommodation. The Room—created by combining two rooms into one—has well-chosen furniture and furnishings. It is calming and comfortable. In the in-room bath, hot natural spring water flows directly from the source; unless you truly love very hot baths, you will want to add cold water to adjust it. For smaller guests, it is deep enough to soak up to your shoulders and long enough to stretch out your legs. Opening the large window facing the garden lets in wonderfully refreshing air. The large public bath and private bath are spacious with a comfortable temperature. The lockers are solid as well. A table adapted from a lacquered low dining table is paired with chairs that are easy to sit on. The dishes brought to your Room one after another at just the right timing are genuine gourmet cuisine—anticipation and satisfaction continue throughout. Allergy accommodations and requests regarding disliked ingredients were handled perfectly. Interestingly—and elegantly—the menu does not list the head chef’s name. There is a separate bedroom with very comfortable beds. It is quiet.

This was my third stay. In the super-hot sauna for 5 minutes, the freezing cold mineral spring for 5 minutes, then a 5-minute rest. Doing this for 3–5 sets feels amazing. After that, I enjoyed a delicious dinner and slept soundly. The next morning, I had breakfast and did the sauna, mineral spring, and rest again—perfectly refreshed. It was fantastic. The Accommodation had a strong retro Showa-era vibe. Don’t forget a thick sauna hat!

It feels just like being at home, truly a comfortable accommodation. This is my second stay, and it’s a reliable place to stay. The breakfast portion was just right. The owner’s hospitality is excellent!

Winter crab, early-summer white squid, and the salt-kiln-grilled abalone we always request as an optional add-on. At Waraku, you can enjoy seasonal delicacies throughout the year, but this time we tried their limited-time wild tiger pufferfish course for the first time, available only around Golden Week. We were truly impressed by the depth of Yuhigaura’s seafood. The beautifully presented sashimi platter (tessa) had a pleasantly chewy texture and was so delicious it ranks No. 1 among all the meals we’ve had at accommodations! The grilled milt was also exceptionally large, plump, and rich—perfect with Waraku’s own-label Junmai Daiginjo sake. And in this season especially, the private garden by the detached guest room feels at its most beautiful, with blooming flowers and vivid green moss. Whenever we’re worn out from everyday life and want to relax and feel restored, we always visit Waraku to Clear our minds.

My daughter stayed with two friends she hadn't seen in a long time. They said the private bath was excellent. The breakfast was also very luxurious and delicious. The owner was very kind and recommended great restaurants for dinner since they hadn’t included it in their stay, making their experience even more enjoyable. They were extremely happy with their time here.

This was my second stay. Just like last time, the meals were incredibly delicious and truly impressed me. Even classic dishes like shabu-shabu had thoughtful touches that felt unique to this Accommodation, which was a pleasant surprise and made dining a real joy. The Room was also comfortable and clean, and I was able to relax completely. The Onsen was wonderful, and I enjoyed the bath in the Room as well as the other private baths many times. The attentive yet unobtrusive service was also very pleasant. Thank you very much. I would love to stay again.

It was an accommodation beyond expectations. A luxurious space with the exclusivity of one group per day and a whole building rental, featuring a spacious room enhanced by exposed beam ceilings, and surrounded by Japanese-modern furniture, lighting, and decor. Both dinner and breakfast were not only delicious in taste but also visually stunning. We enjoyed these refined dishes on a solid single-slab wooden table. I wonder how many times I said "delicious" or "beautiful." The conversation with the owner-chef, who has a unique background, was incredibly interesting and enjoyable. Yunotsuru Onsen won first place again this year in the Hidden Hot Springs & Famous Hot Springs category for the Kyushu-Okinawa area at the Onsen General Election 2025. The hot spring water at Tsurunoya felt like a silky beauty serum that women would love. Moreover, it is luxuriously offered as free-flowing natural hot spring water in a cypress bathtub for you to enjoy. Additionally, guests can also bathe for free at nearby partnered accommodations' onsens—a delightful perk for onsen enthusiasts. Without TVs or clocks to distract you from daily life’s hustle and bustle, this stay offered an extraordinary escape into tranquility—making it an incredibly luxurious two-day-one-night experience in every sense. I hope to visit again soon!

I’d long wanted to visit Bessho Onsen. It had great Reviews on Google Maps, and when I searched IKYU.com for “solo travel” and “Western-style room,” I chose Midoriya—Done! I was a little concerned about the cutting-edge, tech-driven operation, but that worry was unfounded: the smartphone-based process was very smooth. It also made me feel this is something I should get used to—and that it may well become a new standard. This time I booked a breakfast-only Plan for a Multiple Night Stay, and during my stay I used three private Onsen baths a total of six times. What I loved was being able to experience different types of water depending on the bath and the day—clear, slightly greenish, milky white, or with soft yunohana drifting in the water. Each bath has both an indoor bath and an open-air bath, and I thoroughly enjoyed historic Bessho Onsen with its skin-beautifying qualities, gentle feel, and subtle sulfur scent. During my stay, I saw all kinds of guests—a mom with her baby along with her own mother, a young European couple, and solo female international travelers—and it was clear everyone was enjoying their time in their own way.
