Wow! KANAZAWA STAY’s guest room “Tori” has reopened after renovation. This is an 83 m², two-story private rental house, restored from a historic Kanazawa machiya townhouse over 110 years old. In this renovation, a private open-air bath has been newly added in the courtyard. Surrounded by moon-inspired lighting reminiscent of a full moon, you can enjoy a luxurious soak while gazing out at the small garden. “Tori” combines the charm of a traditional machiya with an airy living and dining area. ■ Enjoy a Stroll Through a Charming Historic District Nishi Chaya District, about a 3-minute walk from our property, is one of Kanazawa’s most atmospheric streetscapes. Known as a geisha district where elegant geiko perform, you may even spot beautifully dressed geiko walking through the area at dusk—and sometimes hear the sound of shamisen drifting from within the traditional townhouses. ■ Explore the Town in Kimono Kanazawa’s machiya townhouse neighborhoods, rich with old-world charm, are perfect for strolling in kimono. Wearing kimono as you wander creates a special moment—almost as if you’ve become part of the scenery itself. Photos taken against these picturesque streets make unforgettable travel memories. Kanazawa Castle Park and Kenrokuen Garden are also about 10 minutes away by taxi, making it easy to enjoy sightseeing around Kanazawa while still in kimono. ■ Enjoy a Tea Ceremony Experience In a serene setting, you can savor a bowl of tea while experiencing Japanese aesthetics, heartfelt hospitality, and the spirit of wabi-sabi. We can introduce tea ceremony experiences at Kaikaro in Higashi Chaya District. You’re welcome to join while wearing kimono—an especially popular cultural experience unique to Kanazawa.
