Q: Is it like a storage container? How big is it? Can you really stay there?
A: Yes, the exterior is a container, but the inside is finished to Hotel standards.
We have received many Reviews saying it doesn’t feel cramped and was comfortable.
Q: How about heat, cold, and noise inside the container?
A: We apply special coating on five sides, twice on both the interior and exterior, which also helps reduce echo and noise.
It’s comfortable with air conditioning in summer, and with a panel heater plus a kotatsu in winter.
Note: In winter, condensation may occur depending on weather conditions.
“The bath/toilet are ‘attached outside’—are they shared? Isn’t it cold?”
● There is an entrance from inside the Room, and they are private for each Room.
“Isn’t it dangerous for children in the loft?”
● There is a safety rail to prevent falls, but the stairs are steep. Please decide at your own discretion as a guardian.
“The open-air bath / BBQ rules for Room 1 are hard to understand.”
● No outside food allowed; drinks are OK to bring in / JPY 3,500 per person. The alternative option in bad weather (BBQ cabin etc.) ends at 22:00. The Onsen open-air bath is exclusively for Room 1.
“Humidity / insects (seasonal)”
● In winter, condensation may occur depending on climate conditions. We provide 24-hour ventilation and have installed condensation-absorbing sheets.
Summer: As Shirahama Onsen is rural, please understand that insects may be present seasonally.
