  • I stayed here as a solo traveler, and it was a truly memorable experience where I could fully enjoy the sense of escape that only Rebun Island—one of Japan’s most remote islands—can offer. The staff were warmly welcoming, and the homey atmosphere felt just right for an island Accommodation, so I felt comfortable and safe even on my own.The meals were outstanding, especially dinner featuring Rebun sea urchin and fresh local seafood—I really got to savor the island’s bounty. Breakfast also included seafood from Rebun, which made the trip even more satisfying. Combined with the unique northern-island vibe and magnificent nature that’s hard to find on Honshu, it felt like an experience you can only have here.If I have the chance to visit Rebun Island again, I would definitely stay here again. I also highly recommend this Accommodation to anyone who wants to enjoy a stay that’s unique to a remote island.

  • I’ve been visiting Hokkaido every year for over 10 years, but I had never quite made it to Rebun Island. Unfortunately, it rained, but thanks to you it was a wonderful trip. Since my companion has food allergies, having both meals served buffet-style was the deciding factor for us. There was a wide variety of dishes, and everything was delicious. Given the challenging conditions of living on a remote island, I truly admire how hard all the staff work. We will definitely visit again—hopefully with better weather next time.

Someday, you’ll want to visit this remote island at the edge of Japan—Rebun Island.

Rebun Island, located about 60 km west of Wakkanai City in Hokkaido, is Japan’s northernmost remote island, floating in the Sea of Japan. ["Floating Island of Flowers"—Rebun Island] Rebun Island is home to Rishiri-Rebun-Sarobetsu National Park, Japan’s northernmost national park. It boasts spectacular scenery, including mountains and dramatic sea cliffs shaped by wave erosion. Known as the “Floating Island of Flowers,” Rebun is a rare island where a wide variety of alpine plants bloom. Endemic species found only here—such as the Rebun Lady’s Slipper and Rebun Edelweiss—also grow on the island. When visiting Rebun Island, trekking is highly recommended. A range of routes is available, offering views of flower fields, summit panoramas, and the island’s most famous waterfall. [Enjoy Hokkaido delicacies such as sea urchin and Rishiri kelp] Rebun Island lies where the Liman Current meets the Tsushima Current, creating rich fishing grounds that nurture abundant seafood and kelp. In particular, Rishiri kelp—prized for its refined broth and used in Kyoto cuisine—and sea urchin raised on this kelp are well-known local specialties of Rebun Island.
