White Hostel Shinsaibashi

The best hostel I have ever stayed at. Clean with private toilets. Great location, easy to get around on foot.

Stayed for 2 nights during my first solo trip to Osaka to visit Universal Studios Japan and the Expo. It was my first time using a dormitory-style accommodation, but it was very comfortable. The location was a bit confusing even with a map, and I wasn’t familiar with the subway system, so I walked through Namba Walk (underground shopping street) from Namba Station until I reached Dotonbori and safely arrived at the accommodation. At check-in, I rented bath towels and face towels for an additional fee. There are several passwords for security purposes, but they were relatively easy to remember.For luggage storage, there were lockers available; most guests placed their suitcases in front of their beds, so I did the same. My bed was on the upper bunk—climbing up the ladder felt steep and a bit scary—but the bed itself had a comfortable firmness. The shower room and washroom depend on everyone’s consideration; since mops, paper towels, and bath mats are provided, it’s important to clean up after yourself if you make a mess out of respect for others. It wasn’t foreigners leaving things dirty—it’s just basic manners.Since it’s close by, I went out to Dotonbori at night as well. After checking subway routes on the map that evening, I headed to Universal Studios Japan early in the morning despite rainy weather—it was worth it! On my last day (also rainy), after checking out of the accommodation en route to visit Expo Park via subway, I found that there is a post office open from 8 AM where I could send off my luggage.This is an incredibly comfortable accommodation for solo travelers!
