Sanriku Hana Hotel Hamagiku

I traveled to the coastal area of Iwate and stayed here. A typhoon was approaching, so I was worried I might not be able to see the ocean right in front of me, but the weather held up on the day of my stay and I was able to enjoy the view. The meals featured mainly seafood, and the abalone in particular was incredibly delicious. I also appreciated the complimentary ice pop after bathing.It’s not a brand-new building, but my Room was clean, and all of the staff were warm and welcoming. Next time, I’d love to stay again on a sunny day. Thank you very much.

I was worried about possible damage from the wildfire in Otsuchi Town, but fortunately there was none, and it turned into a comfortable trip. The view from the Hotel room was breathtakingly beautiful. We were lucky to have fine weather, and I was left speechless by the panoramic view over Otsuchi Bay. The Hotel staff were attentive, and the fresh seafood dishes—such as grilled dancing abalone—were so plentiful we couldn’t finish everything. We ordered Iwate’s “Nanbu Bijin” sake and enjoyed it at a very reasonable price. Breakfast was a buffet with a wide variety of items, and I was surprised to see seared bonito on the menu. If I have the chance, this is a Hotel I would love to visit again.
