Sauna Kominka Inn Tsuzuya Village

The barrel sauna and cube sauna, crafted from fragrant local Tono hinoki cypress, welcome you with a refreshing aroma the moment you open the door. The stove is, of course, wood-fired. It takes time and care—from lighting the fire to managing the temperature by hand—but you’ll enjoy the deep roar of burning logs, the crackling sounds, and a gentle sauna heat that warms you slowly and is kind to your skin. For cooling down, we offer a 100% natural cold-water bath filled with well water drawn from the source of a clear stream famous for fireflies.

Birdsong and insect calls that weave through the seasons, accompanied by the gentle murmur of a stream that never interrupts their melody. Dinner featuring an abundance of locally sourced Gifu ingredients is served as a BBQ in summer and a hot pot in winter. <BBQ> A BBQ centered on locally renowned “Anshin Pork,” Hida beef, and sweetfish (ayu), along with freshly harvested summer vegetables. <Hot Pot> Fresh meat and fish served with a base of locally grown Chinese cabbage, daikon radish, and shiitake mushrooms. The menu changes with the seasons.

Tsuzuya Village uses a draft-free, whole-building air-conditioning system, “F-CON,” which gently surrounds you with next-generation far-infrared warmth. Because there is no airflow, it won’t stir up dust or cause dryness. Thanks to the far-infrared effect emitted from a special stone powder, it keeps you warm down to your fingertips in winter and offers a cool, cave-like freshness in summer. Maintained at a comfortable temperature year-round, it overcomes the common weakness of traditional houses—hot summers and cold winters—for a truly comfortable stay.

Despite its pristine streams and rich natural surroundings—so beautiful it’s known as the “Firefly Village”—this area is conveniently located about an hour from central Nagoya.
