Yuze Hotel: Akita's Four Seasons Delight

Akita Prefecture/Kazuno City

Immerse yourself in the rejuvenating hot spring waters of various charming baths, accompanied by the tranquil sounds of Yuze Valley and the breathtaking natural beauty of Towada Hachimantai, for a truly blissful experience.

Listen to the gentle murmur of the Yoneshiro River flowing right before you, and savor the changing seasons with all five senses. The abundant nature of Towada-Hachimantai and its free-flowing hot spring source will soothe both body and mind. As the name “Yuze” is said to have come from “hot water bubbling up from the river shallows,” this Onsen is rich in volume and has long been praised as a “beauty bath,” known for being especially gentle on the skin. At our creative Akita local cuisine buffet, enjoy signature dishes such as Kazuno’s original Kiritanpo Nabe, along with locally branded ingredients like Hinai Jidori chicken and Hachimantai pork, plus seasonal dishes made with ingredients at their peak.

  • The welcome service offered plum wine, black vinegar, juice, sweets, and ice cream. We arrived early and were able to relax until dinner even after taking a bath. We stayed in a Room with an open-air bath, and with free-flowing natural hot spring water, we could enjoy the Onsen anytime. The Room was excellent. The food was buffet-style, featuring local vegetables and specialties, along with many delicious dishes made with health in mind. I don’t often get the chance to visit Akita, but this is an Accommodation I would definitely like to return to. Thank you very much.

  • This was my first stay, and it was an even more wonderful Hotel than I expected. The check-in staff were kind and courteous, which made a great first impression. The Room was clean and spacious. The Onsen is free-flowing from the source, and I was able to relax at my leisure. The buffet venue was quiet, offered a wide variety of dishes, and everything was delicious. Normally buffet venues can be noisy with children, but this one was calm; when I asked why, I learned that the 12th-floor buffet is mainly for adults, while families with children use the 2nd-floor buffet venue. I truly appreciate this thoughtful arrangement. There is also an Onsen area limited to guests aged 18 and over, so you can bathe in peace. Since I’m traveling from Tokyo, I can’t stay often, but whenever I visit the Akita area, I will definitely stay here again.

Our Signature Bath: Yuze Onsen

The name “Yuze” is said to come from the way hot water once welled up from the river shallows. This Onsen offers an abundant flow of water and is exceptionally gentle on the skin. In the open-air bath, you can listen to the murmuring stream and experience the changing seasons with all five senses, surrounded by forested mountain ridges rising overhead.

Japanese set meal

A creative buffet and Japanese set meals featuring carefully selected seasonal ingredients from Akita.

Meals are served for both breakfast and dinner, featuring Akita’s distinctive cuisine made with local ingredients and the flavors of Northern Tohoku (often described as slightly more strongly seasoned). In addition to “Kiritanpo Nabe,” a hot pot said to have originated in Kazuno, we offer Hinai Jidori—one of Japan’s three great native chicken breeds—and branded pork such as Hachimantai Pork. We also serve Akitakomachi rice, local vegetables, wild mountain plants, and regional delicacies so you can fully enjoy the quality and taste of these ingredients. Please enjoy the blessings of nature in the Towada–Hachimantai area.
