  • My first stay at Oigami Onsen. The building is old and has many steep steps. Room amenities are minimal. I brought a bathing garment for the open-air mixed-gender bath, but I noticed some guests were not wearing one. However, it wasn’t crowded, so it wasn’t stressful. The meals focused on vegetables and wild mountain plants; they were healthy and delicious. The firefly tour included explanations, and we were lucky to see them at just the right time. It may have been by chance, but we also received a souvenir on the way back, which was another pleasant surprise. The staff’s thoughtfulness and service were excellent.

  • It’s wonderful that you can enjoy a variety of free-flowing Onsen baths throughout the property, and rental bathing wear is available, so mixed bathing can be enjoyed with peace of mind. Inside the building, guests walk barefoot without slippers. The open-air bath has been selected as one of “The whole country’s 100 Best Open-Air Baths,” and the gorge view from the rotenburo is truly beautiful. The meals are also delicious—especially the river fish sashimi and the young proprietress’s dessert, which are outstanding.
