The Onsen is wonderful. The views from the Room, lobby, and Onsen are full of nature and very relaxing. The building seems old, but it has been well maintained and was clean. The staff were all cheerful and greeted us warmly in clear voices, which felt great and made us smile too. It was also fun to try making our own jingisukan and kama-meshi for the first time. This is a reasonably priced Onsen Hotel that you can truly enjoy—I highly recommend it.

Since you can also enjoy an Onsen tour at the sister Hotel, I was able to enjoy both.Both dinner and breakfast were buffet-style, and everything was very tasty. Above all, the way they poured the beer was fun and unique.There was a long line for the main steak dish, which took some time, and while the drinks in the all-you-can-drink option were good, when orders overlapped with those from paid Plans,I often had to wait for them to be served.The guest Room and bathroom areas were clean, so I thought it was very good overall.

Onsen
Enjoy Onsen from two different on-site hot springs! The large public baths include two nature-inspired baths: “Birdsong,” themed around a bird’s nest, and “River Whisper,” themed around rocks. Unique in Sounkyo, you can experience two distinct on-site hot spring sources: the milky-white bath and the reddish-brown bath. The mineral-rich Onsen, full of natural deposits, is known for its skin-beautifying benefits.
Refresh from the inside out with self-service löyly.
“Löyly” is a Finnish sauna ritual in which aromatic water is poured over sauna stones to create hot steam, quickly raising the room temperature and perceived heat to promote sweating. It can help reduce the prickly skin sensation and shortness of breath often associated with dry saunas. Repeating “sauna → cold bath → rest” about three times is said to bring you into a deeply relaxed, refreshed state known as “totonoi,” and this method has gained popularity among sauna enthusiasts in recent years.
Meals
Inspired by the Daisetsuzan Mountain Range—known as the “Roof of Hokkaido” and often compared to the European Alps—we offer original dishes created with motifs from regional cuisines, mainly from four countries around the Alps.
Yururu
In the Sounkyo area, Asahi Resort Hotel is the only property offering a bedrock bath and private reservable baths. Available to both women and men, it’s also recommended for couples.
