Enjoy seasonal scenery and renowned hot springs, and experience nature with all five senses.

An Onsen accommodation located on a hill surrounded by the rich nature of Sounkyo. Enjoy the unique beauty of columnar joints, Japan's earliest autumn foliage, the Ice Waterfall Festival, and other seasonal attractions that Sounkyo has to offer. The Onsen features "Bijin no Yu," a hot spring rich in metasilicic acid, a natural moisturizing and skin-beautifying component. For dining, we offer a Japanese buffet at "Mountain Cuisine Chaya Hayakoyo," featuring plenty of local ingredients from Northern Hokkaido, as well as authentic kaiseki cuisine at "Kitabanya."

  • This was my third stay. There’s a lounge in one corner of the hall, and once you check in, guests can relax and enjoy it at their leisure. There were five types of local sake for tasting; Kamikawa was fruity, and even I—who can’t really drink alcohol—thought it was delicious. The mushroom soup was also very tasty. There is also complimentary local sake at dinner, which is irresistible for sake lovers. The front desk staff were Japanese, and their calm, professional hospitality was reassuring. It’s easy to ask questions without hesitation. At dinner, a male staff member from Myanmar who seemed like a chief was very attentive and kind—I was impressed. It was a shame that my favorite wonderful bath on the first floor was only available to me in the morning—I wanted to soak longer. The bath at Choyo Resort that I used for the first time with the Shuttle Service was also great. The food was delicious and the baths were wonderful… one night and two days. I enjoyed it thoroughly. Thank you very much.

  • We stayed to celebrate a special occasion. The Room was a Japanese-Western style; you can feel its history, but it was very well cleaned and comfortable. If I had to make a request, there were not enough power outlets and the washroom was dark—I would have liked an additional light. For meals, we dined at Kitabanya. In a spacious private room, we could enjoy our meal without worrying about others around us. The attendant’s thoughtful service was wonderful and made the meal even more enjoyable. The kaiseki cuisine let us fully savor the season and was delicious. There was a bingo event partway through, so we asked to pause our meal, and they kindly waited without showing any displeasure. To K from Haboro—thank you very much. I’m sure you will grow into an excellent hotelier. As for the baths, the open-air bath on the 7th floor felt great. I could soak for a long time by alternating between the lower- and higher-temperature baths. The sulfur spring is wonderful. I would love to stay again if I have another opportunity.
