Celebrating its 70th anniversary, this Property offers a historic retreat for therapeutic stays. Tsubaki Onsen is a renowned hot spring with many therapeutic visitors, featuring soft, smooth waters with a pH of 9.9, known for its skin-beautifying properties. The mild, salt-free waters are safe even for babies, those with atopic dermatitis, or sensitive skin! Handrails are also installed in the bath area for added safety. The daily changing bath features not only medicinal herbs but also seasonal ingredients believed to benefit the skin, such as yuzu citrus, persimmon leaves, and seasonal flowers. The daily changing bath uses the natural spring water (31°C). While some may find it lukewarm, alternating between this and the heated bath (main bath) significantly enhances the Onsen's effects. Enjoy the therapeutic benefits of the Onsen in the large bathhouse, located 60 meters above sea level with a stunning view of the ocean. The ingredients used in our cuisine are carefully selected for safety and quality. Vegetables, rice, and miso are lovingly cultivated by local contract farmers. Fresh seafood is sourced from Tsubaki Fishing Port and nearby waters, ensuring the freshest catch. Each dish, from appetizers to the main course, is handcrafted by our skilled chefs. Our popular seafood kamameshi (rice pot dish) is highly recommended! Packed with the rich flavors of scallops and conger eel, it’s served hot and fluffy. Once or twice a year, I take a solo trip from Kyoto. Since I’m usually stuck at my desk doing computer work, doing a workation in an Onsen has become my go-to, and this Ryokan is one of my regular choices.I can spend some time away from my laptop, relax in the Onsen, enjoy delicious meals, and chat with the proprietress and owner. After time like that, I always head home feeling refreshed.I stayed with the seasonal kaiseki plan, and everything from sashimi to hot pot and kamameshi was plentiful—I was completely full and very satisfied. Breakfast is included in the morning; I’m hooked on pouring a soft-boiled egg that’s been soaked in dashi over rice. Then I finish with Onsen miso soup. I’d like to visit again on my next day off.
