Kusatsu Onsen, renowned for having the largest hot spring water volume in Japan, offers a relaxing experience where you can enjoy exquisite Kaiseki cuisine featuring seasonal flavors.

At the property that achieved first place in Gunma Prefecture, meticulous service and a comfortable atmosphere are its attractions. Enjoy the onsen with abundant water volume and strong sterilization power from the largest "Bandai Gensen" in Kusatsu Onsen, in the large public bath and open-air bath. Additionally, savor traditional Japanese kaiseki cuisine and a variety of dishes centered around Joshu brand meat in a tranquil restaurant. Relaxation on spacious beds is also a delightful experience.

  • I stay here every summer, and I was just as satisfied this year as always. The meals at this Hotel are excellent in both quality and quantity, though the portions may be too large for very elderly guests to finish. The Onsen is a Kusatsu-style sulfur spring, perfect for relaxing both body and mind. The Room has been renovated and feels bright and clean. For those who have given up their driver’s license, the on-demand Shuttle Service from the Hotel to the bus terminal is greatly appreciated. All staff members—at the front desk, Shuttle Service, and elsewhere—are kind and courteous. The international staff in the restaurant had mastered Japanese, and their service was outstanding. This time I stayed 4 nights and 5 days, but ideally I would like to stay for about a week to 10 days. I would like to continue staying here as a repeat guest.

  • I previously stayed at a Hotel near Yubatake, but this time I chose Spax, closer to Sainokawara to the west. Check-in starts a bit early at 2:00 p.m., and upon arrival I was shown to the lobby right away and treated to delicious warabi mochi. I later learned it is made with konjac. Since it’s konjac, it’s lower in calories yet still a tasty sweet—much appreciated for someone like me. By the way, Gunma is known for konjac, so I decided on Onsen manju and konjac as souvenirs. Unfortunately, there is no elevator to the second floor; getting to my Room was fine, but taking the stairs down to the bath felt tough on my aging body. The baths alternate between men and women each morning, and only one side has an open-air bath, so I went twice—once in the evening and once in the morning. Because it was set up like both a Hotel and an apartment building, I was a little worried at first, but those concerns turned out to be unfounded. The meals were also good. If I had one request, it would be that the open-air bath temperature was a bit lukewarm. Also, I recommend checking the route to Yubatake on a map in advance. Thank you for your hospitality.
