Notice of the introduction of the Accommodation Tax in Kumamoto City effective July 1, 2026.
Kumamoto City will introduce an Accommodation Tax starting July 1, 2026, to secure stable funding for ongoing tourism promotion initiatives, including enhancing the city’s appeal as a tourist destination, improving a visitor-friendly stay environment, and strategically attracting more visitors.
All guests will be charged 200 yen per person per night at the front desk. Thank you for your understanding.
Please pay this charge at check-in at the front desk. (This applies even if you have paid in advance.)
*Tax amount: 200 yen per person per night
*Children Sharing Existing Bedding who do not incur an Accommodation Fee are exempt from taxation.
(However, children who use their own bed are subject to the tax.)
