Yuno Yado Aji no Yado Umenoya
Yamaguchi Prefecture/YamaguchiEnjoy rejuvenating hot springs, seasonal delicacies, and the blessings of nature.
An accommodation featuring 100% natural hot spring water in its open-air baths and handmade cuisine emphasizing quality ingredients. Particularly, the hamo dishes from summer to early autumn are not to be missed. In 2023, a comfortable space utilizing natural materials was introduced, allowing guests to stay without worrying about dryness. Guests can soak in the highly alkaline water with skin-beautifying effects while enjoying the warmth of wood and dappled sunlight. The café space, equipped with Wi-Fi, offers coffee and sweets for enjoyment.
I was impressed by everything about this stay.First, the cuisine was truly outstanding. Not only were the ingredients excellent, but the menu featured an abundance of seasonal delicacies that are hard to come by in everyday life—such as grouper, Shizuoka-brand eel “Deshiko,” pike conger, kuruma prawns, and Kamo eggplant—and I was moved by each and every dish. There wasn’t a single miss: the depth of flavor in the dashi came through beautifully, and the balance of ingredients and seasoning was exquisite. Considering the high level of cooking provided here, I was amazed that I could stay at this price—it was an extremely satisfying experience. The Onsen was also wonderful. The bath area is new and kept very clean, so it was a pleasure to use.In particular, Umenoya’s unique natural spring water at around 30°C was perfect for this hot season. Alternating it with the indoor bath at around 40°C left me feeling refreshed afterward and made for a truly relaxing time. I highly recommend trying it this way.Above all, what left the strongest impression on me was the hospitality of the staff. When I accidentally dropped my chopsticks during dinner, one staff member immediately noticed and picked them up, and another staff member who saw this promptly brought me a fresh pair. Their seamless teamwork showed how well they communicate on a daily basis, which really moved me.The proprietress has such a warm presence—always smiling and speaking to guests in a friendly manner. Despite her young age, her attentiveness to guests and her awareness of everything throughout the Ryokan are exceptional; it’s rare to find someone who can offer such wonderful hospitality. This Accommodation exceeded my expectations in every way—cuisine, Onsen, and service.I would love to return in another season to enjoy more delicious meals and relax in the Onsen again.
Yahoo!トラベルユー... 7/28/2026This stay was wonderful once again, exactly as expected. From the appetizers to the dessert, every dish was crafted without compromise. Not only were the ingredients excellent, but the depth of the dashi came through beautifully, and we were truly satisfied with every plate. The Onsen has a gentle, easy-to-enjoy quality that makes you want to soak again and again. We also enjoyed the sauna and were able to relax both body and mind.In addition, the hospitality from the proprietress and all staff members was truly outstanding. It was clear that each person paid close attention to every guest, which genuinely moved us.Even though it was a weekday, there were many guests staying here. After speaking with someone in the building who said they visit “three or four times a year,” we completely understood why. It’s rare to find an Accommodation where both the Onsen and cuisine are this satisfying. We would choose this place again without hesitation.
