The sacred site of Shugendō, revered for centuries - Togakushi Shrine

Togakushi Shrine, established at the foot of the sacred Togakushi Mountain over 2,000 years ago, is a renowned shrine steeped in history and tradition. Revered as a place of spiritual training for monks since ancient times, it is also a site where the legends of Japanese mythology have been passed down through generations. Famous as one of Japan's premier power spots, why not visit this historic shrine and experience its profound spiritual energy? Togakushi Shrine collectively refers to five shrines: Okusha (the main shrine), Chusha, Hokosha, Kuzuryusha, and Hino-mikosha. Scattered at the base of Togakushi Mountain, said to be where the legendary rock from the myth "Ame-no-Iwato" landed, these shrines form a sacred area that has been venerated as a divine realm since the Heian period.
