Enjoy seasonal handmade dishes featuring Hida beef, local ingredients, and fresh seafood directly sourced from the market, along with the abundant hot spring waters in the large communal bath and open-air baths.
It was a very cozy Accommodation.The air conditioning had a dial from LOW to HI, but even on LOW it cooled very well, so it was hard to adjust.I stayed with my 87-year-old mother-in-law, and we found it more difficult than expected for her to get up from the futon, so I realized we should choose a Room with beds next time.On the day of our stay, there happened to be a festival, and we could even see fireworks right by the window. After that, a samba group performed in front of the Ryokan, which was great fun.The Onsen had wonderful water that really relieved our fatigue—my skin stayed smooth for 2–3 days afterward.The Hida beef dishes were exceptional! I especially recommend the sukiyaki. Since we don’t drink alcohol, I wished we had asked to have rice served at the same time.Thank you very much for your hospitality.
Yahoo!トラベルユー... 8/7/2026Thank you very much for your hospitality.My husband has difficulty walking, so we were worried about getting to the large public bath, but our room was on the 5th floor and it was great that we could take the elevator down to the 2nd floor and reach the Onsen right away. The water was silky-smooth and we were very satisfied. The bed was also soft and comfortable, so we slept well and felt refreshed. Thank you again.

A relaxing property continuing from the Edo period
Yamagataya was established in the first year of the Bunka era during the Edo period. The relaxing space, cultivated over time with the desire that "those who visit Yamagataya feel more at ease than at home and return revitalized," is Yamagataya's greatest charm.
Located along the Hida River (Masuda River) flowing through the center of Gero Onsen, you can enjoy the scenery that changes with the seasons. The Gero fireworks, held several times in summer and winter, can be viewed from within the facility.
Our facility is located just a 1-2 minute walk from the Gero Onsen town, making it very convenient. You can change into stylish yukata and enjoy strolling through the Onsen town, exploring foot baths and galleries. The promenade along the Hida River under Yamagataya is also one of the attractions.
