Reopened after the disaster, offering local hospitality and dishes made with fresh ingredients.

After the disaster in 2011, the fisherman's property "Isomura" reopened in August 2018. Boasting hospitality from a staff composed of local residents and exquisite meals made with fresh ingredients from Kesennuma, it is one of Kesennuma's premier culinary properties. The cozy interior provides warmth and relaxation, akin to returning home.

  • This was our second stay with Mr. Isomura. The first time, we drank too much and couldn’t finish dinner, but this time we drank less and finished everything. It was very delicious, and the service was excellent. We would definitely like to stay again.

  • The food was outstanding, and this Accommodation offered great value for the price. They served a wonderful selection of dishes that truly represent Kesennuma. It was an amazing experience to try ingredients you rarely see all at once—sea squirt, swordfish, oysters, shark heart, and shark fin. Both of us who dined there agreed that the “harmonica-ni” was our No. 1. Some dishes may not suit everyone’s tastes, but I enjoyed everything. The seafood is extremely fresh, so even ingredients you used to dislike might taste completely different if you give them a try.The bath and Room were very clean, and the Facility felt new and comfortable. As an aside, you can really sense that the area is still in the midst of a difficult recovery. I also visited the Memorial Museum and came away understanding just how unimaginable the disaster was for those who experienced it. I live in a prefecture expected to be heavily affected if a Nankai Trough earthquake occurs; seeing how far Kesennuma has come in 15 years felt important—not only as preparation, but also as reassurance. Disasters often focus on moments of tragedy, but this visit reminded me how important it is to share stories of recovery as well. It was truly a valuable experience. Honestly, it’s not somewhere you can easily visit often; I don’t know when I’ll be able to return next time, but it’s a town I would want to bring someone important with me to see.
