Zuiryu Temple

Zuiryuji Temple is located about a 10-minute walk from Takaoka Station. It is a renowned Soto Zen temple known as the family temple of Maeda Toshinaga, the second head of the Kaga Maeda family and the founder of Takaoka. The temple was constructed by Maeda Toshitsune, the third head, and took approximately 20 years to complete. Notably, the Sanmon Gate, Buddha Hall, and Lecture Hall are masterpieces of early modern temple architecture and are the only National Treasures in Toyama Prefecture.
