This was my first trip to Aomori, and I stayed here. I relaxed in the Onsen at length, and the kaiseki cuisine served in the spacious dining area was rich in local character—truly luxurious and delicious. The staff’s thoughtful hospitality was wonderful, and thanks to them I had a very relaxing time. I was also moved by Shiko Munakata’s vibrant woodblock prints on display, which left me feeling refreshed and energized. This is an Accommodation I would definitely like to visit again.
Yahoo!トラベルユー... 5/30/2026I enjoy Onsen trips to places like Hoshino Resorts, Hakone, Shimoda, and Hokkaido. This time as well, I was very satisfied with both the Onsen and the meals. The low rating for cleanliness was because I found a disposable contact lens on the floor. It had hardened and felt unpleasant.Still, it’s a warm Accommodation that made me want to visit again.

Introduction of the Accommodation

The mountains surrounding the hot spring town offer the beauty of four seasons and breathtaking views.
Asamushi Onsen is a charming hot spring town located in the northern part of Aomori City, known for its many famous Onsen and often referred to as the "Atami of Tohoku" or the "Hidden Retreat of Aomori." In summer, visitors can enjoy Asamushi Beach with views of Yunoshima Island, while evenings come alive with events like Asamushi Nebuta and fireworks festivals, attracting tourists from near and far. Children will love spotting fireflies at Hotaru Lake or visiting Asamushi Aquarium to see dolphins and sea otters. For food lovers, fresh seafood from Mutsu Bay and local mountain delicacies offer a nostalgic taste that everyone can enjoy. Additionally, Asamushi Onsen serves as a convenient base for exploring Aomori's attractions such as Oirase Gorge and Mount Hakkoda.

Shikō Munakata, born in Aomori and renowned as a global woodblock print artist, left behind masterpieces not only in woodblock prints but also in oil paintings, Yamato-e (traditional Japanese paintings), calligraphy, and poetry. His works consistently exude a profound religious essence. Deeply devoted to his homeland and constantly praying to the gods of the universe, Munakata chose this place as his creative sanctuary to pour his soul into his art. Starting around 1941, he stayed here with his family every summer, creating numerous works. It is said that he would cleanse his body in the hot springs before beginning his artistic process. At our facility, we exhibit Shikō Munakata's works that cannot be seen in prefectural or city art museums, offering a unique experience exclusive to our establishment.
Our establishment was selected as one of the 250 Popular Onsen Ryokan Hotels in 2007 with a five-star rating.
