An Accommodation in Kasumi renowned for its seasonal cuisine throughout the year

Nestled in Kasumi, Hyogo Prefecture—blessed with the rich seafood of the Sea of Japan—“Sanpo,” a cuisine-focused Accommodation said to be home to a guardian spirit, invites you to savor Kasumi’s seasonal flavors to your heart’s content. In spring and autumn, enjoy Kasumi crab; in summer, sweet and crystal-clear white squid; in winter, Matsuba crab; and year-round specialties such as nodoguro (blackthroat seaperch) and Tajima beef. Using an abundance of seasonal delicacies from the Sea of Japan, our chefs carefully prepare each dish to bring out the natural taste of every ingredient. Our kaiseki cuisine has earned high praise from many guests. At our Onsen, unwind in gentle waters that are traditionally believed to help with rheumatism and neuralgia, soothing away the fatigue of travel. Surrounded by exceptional cuisine and an Onsen bath, enjoy a luxurious stay that refreshes both body and mind. We are also conveniently located as a base for sightseeing at the Kasumi Coast, Amarube Railway Bridge, and Kinosaki Onsen. Alongside Kasumi’s ever-changing seasonal scenery, experience flavors found only here and heartfelt hospitality that brings true relaxation.

  • We stayed with my sister’s family and our parents, bringing three children.Even though it was summer vacation and the children’s rates were very affordable, the kids’ dinner set was very generous, and the children were thrilled! We also appreciated being able to use the bath 24 hours a day,and above all, dinner was absolutely delicious! The portions were huge, and we were completely full.Thank you very much!

  • This was my second stay.Last time I reserved the full-course Matsuba crab meal, and this time I reserved the Kasumi crab “finger-off” course. The Matsuba crab course was more than I could finish, so I thought the “finger-off” course would be enough, but the portion size was completely different. The Kasumi crab was very delicious, but it felt light and fluffy, so I finished it quickly. Still, since the price is different, I understand. If I reserve again next time, it will probably be Matsuba crab. Above all, the staff provide very courteous service, so you can spend your time comfortably. The bath is clean as well, and I liked that it’s available all night. It’s a place that made me want to stay again.

Crab Sushi “Kagayaki”

Born from the desire to share “more of Kasumi’s delicious flavors” with more people: Sanpou’s signature crab sushi, “Kagayaki.” This specialty was created after guests staying at Sanpou—an Accommodation with over 30 years of history as a culinary inn—told us they wanted an affordable crab souvenir. Made generously with locally caught Kasumi crab, it is finished with Kasumi rice ideal for sushi and delicious local water. Premium crab nurtured by the Sea of Japan, luxuriously served as hand-picked meat. Skilled artisans carefully pick the crab by hand without sparing time or effort, selecting the most flavorful parts and arranging them beautifully. With each bite, you can enjoy the delicate sweetness of crab that gently melts apart, along with a sea aroma that lingers through your nose. From discerning quality by origin and individual catch, to precise heating and cooling that preserves umami, to the exact touch used when picking the meat and the beauty of presentation—this is a dish filled with craftsmanship. We pursue a level of quality worthy of gifting. This crab sushi is an exclusive item available only at Sanpou and partner Ryokan in Kasumi. You can purchase it by ordering during your stay at Sanpou or by placing an order through one of our partner Ryokan. Because we want you to enjoy fresh crab sushi at room temperature, we intentionally limit how it is sold. Perfect for special occasions—and also powerful enough to turn an ordinary day into something memorable.
