Panoramic views of Yanagawa, the poet’s hometown, plus Onsen and kaiseki cuisine after a stroll through the castle town

Yanagawa is the hometown of one of Japan’s leading poets, Hakushu Kitahara. From the large panoramic public bath at this Accommodation—perfectly located for enjoying the canal town of Yanagawa—you can take in sweeping views of the city. After strolling through Yanagawa’s historic castle town streets or enjoying a river cruise (moat tour), unwind with natural Onsen and our head chef’s signature kaiseki cuisine.

  • The Onsen water was silky and wonderful. We only had breakfast, but there was a wide variety and we were very satisfied... the eel rice ball served as ochazuke with dashi was delicious. It was also nice that they offered tantanmen as a late-night snack. We’d love to visit again.

  • The Japanese-style twin Room was very comfortable, with twin beds in a tatami-mat room. From the Room, we could watch the river cruises at various times of day. The building and Facility are retro, but well maintained, and the restaurant chairs and tables were clean, making it comfortable to dine. We chose the local bounty course for dinner and enjoyed delicious local ingredients such as Yanagawa wagyu beef and steamed eel in a bamboo steamer. All of the staff were friendly and left a great impression. I would like to stay again when I want to relax.

Yanagawa River Cruise

Three Highlights of Kamenoi Hotel Yanagawa: Nearby Sightseeing

Yanagawa is a waterside town where the canals of Yanagawa Castle still crisscross the city. One of the best ways to experience its charm is a canal cruise on a traditional donko boat. As you pass through sluice gates and under bridges, you can enjoy the atmosphere of this water town while listening to the boatman’s songs and commentary in seasonal festival attire. There are four boarding points near Mihashira Shrine. The cruise takes about one hour.

Open-air bath at night

Three Highlights of Kamenoi Hotel Yanagawa: Onsen

This Hotel is proud of its variety of baths and the view of the river cruise (moat) from the scenic bath. The Yanagawa Onsen source, discovered in 1965, is located next to this Accommodation. The water has a slightly silky feel, leaving your skin smooth after bathing. ■Onsen Name: Yanagawa Onsen ■Spring Quality: Sodium bicarbonate/chloride spring
