If you’re heading to Atami, visit Kinomiya Shrine in summer! Explore local power spots.
Kinomiya Shrine has long been revered as a deity of good fortune and auspicious connections. Beside the main hall stands a sacred camphor tree designated as a National Natural Monument—approximately 2,100 years old with a trunk circumference of 24 meters—also famous as a spiritual power spot. It is said that walking around the trunk once adds one year to your life, drawing many visitors who pray for longevity, recovery from illness, and good health. Another tradition says that if you circle the tree once without telling anyone your wish, your wish will come true.
