Experience nature and history with all five senses at the Onsen and Kumano Kodo.

A convenient onsen property for exploring Kumano Kodo and Higashikishu. Enjoy the majestic nature, trolley train, and onsen. Close to destinations like Maruyama Senmaida, Akagi Castle ruins, Kumano Hongu Taisha (Kumano Sanzan), Tamaki Shrine, and rafting experiences. From the open-air bath, you can admire the breathtaking view of the Kitayama River, which helps relieve daily fatigue. Meals are prepared with local brand ingredients such as Kumano chicken, Shinhime, Kumano beef, and seasonal and regional cuisine.

  • I stayed in a Japanese-style Room with No Meals Included. It was a very quiet environment, and I was able to rest soundly. The Onsen water was excellent, and after bathing my skin felt smooth and silky. The front desk staff were also very courteous, making it a comfortable Accommodation.I would definitely like to stay here again.

  • I’ve stayed here many times, and this time I brought my parents—they were both very satisfied. The guest rooms other than those in the new wing have also been renovated, and the Accommodation is well maintained and impeccably clean throughout. Above all, I’m always comforted by the pleasant service that truly reflects the staff’s hospitality. This time we enjoyed the Okukumano kaiseki dinner and it was delicious, but it seemed a bit too much for my parents as they’ve started eating smaller portions. Next time we stay, we’ll choose a Plan with breakfast only and have dinner from the regular restaurant menu instead. There are hardly any places to eat nearby, but this restaurant has an extensive menu—from rice bowls and noodles to nigiri sushi and tempura, set meals, and seasonal fair sets—so you can use it for lunch or dinner depending on your budget and appetite. We couldn’t use Yunokuchi Onsen this time due to scheduling, but it’s a wonderful Onsen with excellent water quality and luxurious free-flowing natural spring water like a waterfall, so I definitely want to visit again. It would be even more convenient if there were a shuttle bus from the Hotel to the Onsen. I’m looking forward to the day when the trolley train service is restored.

Travel to Yunokuchi Onsen with a Showa-era retro trolley train.

Kiwa Town in Kumano City was once famous as a mining town, with a history of copper mining dating back over 1,200 years. The trolley that was once used in the mines has been restored for tourism purposes. Enjoy a small 10-minute journey through the approximately 1km-long former mine tunnel. Ahead of the trolley is Kumano's secret Onsen, Yunokuchi Onsen, where you can relax with abundant water and high-quality hot springs.
