    Even if you arrive after your scheduled check-in time, if you have a No Meals Included plan there is no need to contact them as long as it’s by 22:00, which is very convenient. You can truly hear the babbling stream and wild birds.It’s a small Hotel, and I felt the large public bath was fairly spacious. The front desk staff were extremely pleasant, and even after the shop had closed, they kindly sold me corn ice cream from the ice cream workshop at the front desk.The staff also looked out for our luggage—this is a very attentive and comfortable Accommodation. Since we were leaving early in the morning, I really appreciated being able to have De’Longhi coffee from the free drink service before heading out.

  • The outdoor sauna is amazing!

    The outdoor sauna was fantastic—new and properly hot. There’s also a cold plunge bath and an outdoor bench for cooling down, making it perfect for sauna lovers.

This is an original-design outdoor sauna crafted from Kiso hinoki, one of Japan’s three finest timbers. Surrender to the soothing aroma of Kiso hinoki and enjoy the ultimate “totonoi” experience embraced by Kiso’s nature. At the foot of Mt. Ontake in Kiso, you’ll find boundless wilderness and a medicinal bath culture passed down through the ages. To help you fully experience the charm of Kiso, we renovated our large public bath and sauna in 2024. Enjoy a relaxing moment with an experience found only here.

A Sento Mural Depicting Mount Ontake

So you can reminisce about your Kiso journey and share stories while admiring the artwork, sento mural artist Mizuki Tanaka has painted the nostalgic landscapes of Kiso through all four seasons—Mt. Ontake, said to be the origin of Japan’s medicinal bath culture, as well as the Kiso River and Kiso horses—scenes that have endured since long ago. Inspired by how people in the Kiso region traditionally used wild medicinal herbs from the mountains and fields in their home baths to treat various ailments, we offer a medicinal herbal bath blended from several kinds of herbs. Its aromatic components help boost metabolism, and its tannins are effective for neuralgia, lower back pain, stiff shoulders, rheumatism, sensitivity to cold, fatigue recovery, eczema/rashes, chapped skin/cracks (including around fingertips), chilblains/frostbite sores, hemorrhoids-related discomforts, skin conditions/dermatitis, and joint pain.
