Izu Nagaoka Onsen Koubou no Yu Ikona-so
Shizuoka Prefecture/Izu Nagaoka OnsenExperience beautiful skin and health at an Onsen with a thousand years of history, and savor a once-in-a-lifetime moment with seafood tea kaiseki.
Ikona-so is an Accommodation in Izu Nagaoka Onsen, featuring private open-air baths and a luxurious seafood tea kaiseki cuisine. With a history spanning over a thousand years, our Onsen is a radium hot spring that makes generous use of “Bad Gastein ore,” and is highly regarded as a beautifying bath. The synergy of free-flowing hot spring water and natural radium helps refresh both body and mind. In our rooms with open-air baths and in the private open-air baths, you can enjoy truly private moments without concern for others’ eyes. Dining features an exquisite seafood tea kaiseki meal. Our seafood-based tea kaiseki dishes are exceptional—please savor each once-in-a-lifetime course. Guest rooms offer a calm, traditional Japanese atmosphere, and all in-room open-air and indoor baths use natural Onsen water. Enjoy a relaxing stay in Izu Nagaoka.
It was unfortunately raining that day, so we stopped by the newly opened Izu no Kuni History Museum “Izushiru” before checking in. The welcome drink system, where you can choose your preferred drink from a vending machine, felt efficient and practical. I absolutely loved the gift zori sandals in our Room and will take good care of them. We used the private open-air bath again this time. There are now two washing stations, so even as a couple we didn’t have to wait and it was very comfortable. The slightly thick, silky hot spring water is wonderful. The floor chair in the Room had been replaced with a higher chair, making it even more comfortable than before. Since it was raining, we enjoyed soaking in the open-air bath attached to our guest room and watching baseball on one of the two TVs that can receive satellite channels. All of the meals were delicious and the portions were just right. After dinner, being able to use the coffee machine in the lobby also added to our satisfaction. All of the staff were very pleasant and welcoming. There’s no excessive service—just a great Accommodation you can enjoy even on rainy days—and my wife likes it too, so it’s becoming our regular place in Izu Nagaoka. We look forward to staying again.

Introduction of the Accommodation

Ikona-so’s Onsen with a thousand-year history
Ikona-so’s Onsen features a radium bath generously infused with “Bad Gastein ore.” Known as a “beautifying hot spring,” it is highly praised by guests who say their skin feels noticeably different—our proud signature Onsen. Using abundant “Bad Gastein ore” from the Heilstollen (therapeutic tunnel) in Bad Gastein, Austria, a world-famous spa resort, the combination of the ore and the Izu Nagaoka spring water allows you to enjoy a pleasant natural radium warm bath in the bathing area. The water flowing from the spout is never recirculated—this is a free-flowing radium Onsen. The large public bath, private open-air bath, and all in-room open-air and indoor baths are 100% natural hot spring water directly from the source. The spring quality is simple alkaline hot spring water, with expected benefits for neuralgia, muscle fatigue, frozen shoulder, gastrointestinal weakness, and more.

Original bed
They say beauty and wellness begin with high-quality sleep. At Ikona-so, we offer our original beds made with custom urethane and pocket coils to help you enjoy truly exceptional rest. We also provide low-dust “dustless” pillows made with endless fiber, along with our original dustless duvets. Please experience this premium comfort for yourself. *Beds are available only in the Japanese-Western style rooms (“Asahi” and “Yuzuki”).*
