The moment we got out of the car in the parking lot, we could smell sulfur, which made us feel like we had truly arrived at an Onsen. The Hotel had a slightly old-fashioned feel, but the staff at the front desk were incredibly kind and welcoming. The Room also had a nostalgic Onsen Ryokan vibe, which was very relaxing and pleasant. The meals offered a wide variety of dishes, including international cuisine, all of which were delicious. The baths included both an open-air bath and a large public bath located in different areas, which added to the excitement. It was such a wonderful Onsen experience. I would love to visit Ichibokaku again someday.Thank you for making it such an enjoyable trip!

From JR Nagano Station: 80 minutes by Nagaden Express Bus bound for Shiga Kogen (may require a transfer at Hasuike), or 50 minutes by Nagano Dentetsu limited express train to Yudanaka Station, then 40 minutes by local bus bound for Kumano-yu/Suzurikawa. Get off at the Kumano-yu bus stop; 2-minute walk. In winter, direct buses to Shiga Kogen are also available through travel agencies. About 45 minutes from the Joshinetsu Expressway Shinshu-Nakano IC via National Route 292 (follow signs for Kumano-yu Ski Resort). From late April to mid-November, the Shiga-Kusatsu Highland Route is open and accessible from Kusatsu/Karuizawa/Manza (about 40 minutes from Kusatsu). Is parking available?
