Recover from fatigue and promote wellness in our mildly alkaline simple Onsen.

Issa no Komichi Biyu no Yado is located in the historic Yudanaka Onsen area of Nagano Prefecture, with a history of approximately 1,350 years. Our accommodation is a proud onsen ryokan featuring 100% natural hot spring water flowing directly from the source and stunning views. Relax and unwind while enjoying the onsen loved by enthusiasts and the scenic mountains of Shinshu. Guests staying with us can enjoy free access to three public baths in Yudanaka Onsen nearby. Additionally, our rooftop offers a private open-air bath surrounded by mountains, available for 40 minutes at 2,000 yen. A short drive will take you to Shibu Onsen or Shiga Kogen, and during summer months, Kusatsu Onsen is about an 80-minute drive away—making this area perfect for onsen lovers. We look forward to welcoming you for your ultimate hot spring getaway!

  • From the open-air bath, we could see cherry blossoms in full bloom so close they felt within reach, and both of us were very satisfied. For dinner, it was delicious—and a first-time experience—to pick shiitake mushrooms ourselves from a cultivation kit, grill them, and eat them. We also enjoyed having dessert in the lobby after moving to a different spot. The staff were very attentive as well. The only downside was that the Facility felt a bit old, but overall it was a great Hotel.

  • I stayed for one night after a memorial service in Nagano. The Hotel itself may be old, but the location—and especially the open, airy first-floor lobby—was wonderful. I ended up using it like a café for a while and felt very comfortable there. The meals were great too, with generous portions and creative ideas. The steamed grilled rainbow trout was especially delicious. To be honest, I’d never thought river fish tasted that good before, but this dish really let me enjoy the aroma and made me realize how tasty it can be. I forgot to take photos. Most of the attendants were from overseas; their Japanese was sometimes unclear, but everyone was polite and hardworking, which left a good impression. One particularly energetic Japanese staff member chatted with me about rice and Nagano, and it really lifted my spirits. This is now another Hotel I’d like to stay at again if I have the chance. One more thing: for some reason, the inner bath at the back felt very hot on both days (me on day 1, my wife on day 2).

Introduction of the Accommodation

Open-air Bath

Relax and rejuvenate in a 100% natural free-flowing Onsen.

Our pride and joy: "100% Natural Flowing Onsen." Travel enthusiasts may often come across this phrase, but our Onsen stands out as a true "100% natural flowing" hot spring. We source water from three Yudanaka Onsen springs, mix them within the facility, and use a heat exchanger to cool the approximately 90°C spring water to a comfortable 42°C for our guests. This pure Onsen water is then directed into our large public baths, private baths, and open-air bath-equipped guest rooms. Unlike typical practices of adding water to cool down or heating up cooler spring water, we do not alter the natural state of the hot spring in any way. No chlorine or chemicals are added, no circulation systems are used—our "100% Natural Flowing Onsen" allows you to enjoy the pure essence of freshly sourced hot spring water just as it is.

Shinshu Premium Beef

Enjoy Shinshu Premium Beef

Dinner will be served as a Japanese Kaiseki meal, and breakfast as a traditional Japanese set meal. Many of the ingredients used are sourced from Shinshu, including the main dish for dinner, which features "Shinshu Premium Beef," a safe and delicious beef brand certified by Nagano Prefecture. Enjoy the full flavor of Shinshu Wagyu with dishes such as steak that highlights its rich taste or sukiyaki that lets you savor its sweet marbling and exquisite flavor.

Yudanaka Onsen "Soto-Yu" Tour

Yudanaka Onsen Town features around 20 public Onsen baths scattered throughout the area. These are primarily public Onsens managed by local residents in each district. There are three public Onsens near our accommodation, and guests staying with us can enjoy these baths free of charge during their stay. Among them, Yudanaka Oyu is a renowned Onsen that has been recognized as the "East Yokozuna" in the national ranking of public Onsens. At the entrance of Yudanaka Oyu, you will find a signboard with the characters "養遐齢 (Yokarei)," which is another name for Yudanaka Onsen and symbolizes longevity and long life. Strolling through the nostalgic streets of this charming Onsen town is one of the many pleasures of visiting Yudanaka Onsen.
