I stayed for one night on a round trip from Kagoshima Airport. It was quite tucked away, but I’m glad I came. I was overwhelmed by the large baths. There were many creatively designed baths, and I spent over an hour soaking. There were lots of day-use visitors, so the changing room was crowded and lively. The well-maintained garden and the cedar trees were also impressive. It’s far, but I’d like to visit again. The only disappointment was that three men were squatting right in front of a spot where they could see into the passageway to the women’s bath area. It was obvious what they were doing and they didn’t seem to care, so I felt staff patrols are needed.

Although it was summer, the ventilation seemed to release steam well, so the room temperature didn’t feel too high even after getting out of the Onsen. Dinner was delicious and generously portioned. The Room had tatami mats as well as beds, which made it very comfortable. The Onsen water wasn’t too strong, so I could soak and relax at a leisurely pace.
