The Yumoto Saito Ryokan, with a history of 284 years, is a charming property blending the Shirahone Onsen and the traditional ambiance of Shinshu. The onsen, sourced from its own spring since the Kamakura period, is milky white and is said to be effective for gastrointestinal ailments. All 53 guest rooms are named after notable novelists and poets, offering a serene space for relaxation. Additionally, you can savor Japanese seasonal course meals featuring the bounty of Shinshu's mountains and rivers.
First of all, the staff were exceptionally kind and helpful. As this is a historic Accommodation, there are some areas that show their age, but everything was thoroughly cleaned. For dinner we chose the simple Plan, but it was more than enough in volume, and the flavors made the most of the ingredients—it was truly delicious. The Onsen is a hydrogen sulfide spring, I believe, and we were able to fully enjoy free-flowing natural hot spring water; it was wonderfully relaxing. In every respect, my spouse and I were very satisfied and deeply grateful. There are several buildings on the property, each with its own unique features depending on where your Room is located. We stayed in a building called Bokusuiso; there was a waterfall right next to our Room, and we could enjoy its refreshing atmosphere from inside. The large public bath is a bit of a walk away, but for us it was part of the fun—we enjoyed exploring the buildings along the way to the bath. If we have another opportunity, we would definitely like to stay again.
Yahoo!トラベルユー... 6/30/2026It was a highly satisfying Accommodation.It has been a long time since we were shown to our Room and even served tea.I’m sorry I wasn’t very graceful when I handed you my thanks without an envelope.We visited for our wedding anniversary, and I’m glad we chose this place.Above all, it was an Accommodation where we could truly enjoy the hot spring water.The baths are quite far away like a maze, but I still went in three times in one day.It leaves your skin silky smooth.I had heard the meals were on the smaller side, but it was no problem at all—we were completely full.I would love to stay here again.

Open-air bath 'Oni ga Shiro'
During the Kamakura period, the shortest route connecting the Hokuriku region and the shogunate was established here. It is said that hot springs have been flowing in Shirahone since that time, with a history spanning over 600 years. Our onsen features a unique milky white color and uses natural spring water. Drinking it is believed to be particularly effective for gastrointestinal ailments. Enjoy a relaxing moment while soaking in the onsen.
