    This was a Hotel we booked at short notice during our trip to Shikoku, but the price was reasonable, the service was excellent, and the large public bath had a great view—overall, it was very satisfying. With convenience stores and a coin laundry nearby right in front of the station, the location couldn’t have been better. When we visit Shikoku again, we’d like to stay here next time as well.

  • Room with a View of Mt. Ishizuchi

    A few years ago, I stayed here and relaxed in a Room with a view of Mt. Ishizuchi, so I made a Reservation again to unwind and escape the intense summer heat. This time as well, they arranged a mountain-side Room for me, and I really enjoyed it. When I used the bath right after check-in, it was private. There was also a great selection of shampoos and other amenities. I felt like my rough edges had softened.Since I visited on a weekday, it wasn’t crowded, and I could enjoy breakfast at a leisurely pace.Next time, I’d like to come in winter to see the snow-covered mountains.

Located in Saijo City, Ehime Prefecture, Mount Ishizuchi stands at an elevation of 1,982 meters, making it the highest peak in western Japan. While climbing peaks like Tengu-dake and Misen requires thorough preparation, beginners can also enjoy hiking by using the ropeway and sightseeing lift. ■Essential items for your first climb of Mount Ishizuchi Key items include a map, quick-drying and warm base layers, rainwear (top and bottom, as weather conditions can change suddenly), hiking boots, a backpack, drinks, and trash bags. It can get chilly at the summit and during mornings and evenings in spring and autumn, so be sure to bring warm clothing as well.
